When I am "in the LAN", my external hard drive is being identified as FAT 32.  This is incorrect as I formatted it as NTFS.  However, when logged in through mypogoplug and in settings, it is correctly shown as NTFS.

Does anybody know whny this is occuring?  Also, just for the record, this PogoPlug Plus is working flawlessly otherwise.

Thanks!

1) Plus ?
2) What is identifying the drive as FAT32? It's unclear by your statement of my.pogoplug.com declaring it NTFS.

1. Log into mypogpplug.com
2. Click on settings.

There will be a description of the starage device that is connected to the Pogpplug Plus. In my description, it shows NTFS.

OH, I forgat to mention the Fat 32 part.

1. The starage device shows up as a physical hard drive in the desktop icon "computer". I am on Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

2. I right click on the pogoplus drive while in "computer" and then right click and choose preferences.

This is where it indicates Fat 32.

same problem

Ah ok, now it makes sense.

The device itself sees the device as NTFS, but presents it to Windows as FAT32. Sense Made!

This is fairly likely by design. I wouldn't worry about this, the drive is NTFS if you plug it in directly to the PC.

Thank's WarheadsSE

But if i want put a files more then 4gb through pogoplug on my drive, windows doesn't want, but FAT32 can't manage file over 4gb.

same problem here but i do need to move a 4gb+ file - a movie - to a drive connected to my pukey-pink pogo!
please don't say connect it directly to my pc as i am physically disabled and can't do this without help, and my carer is getting grumpy at how much techy help i need. he says, 'i thought tech was meant to make your life easier!'. well, me too i guess...

Hey folk,,

Any one you can use. But sometime it is needed to convert the FAT to NTFS so first make a back up of your all data. During the conversion of the file system, if your file system be corrupt then what will you do? That time you will lose your all data that stores in your memory stick. So it is suggested that you have to make a back up of your data.

If your file system will corrupt during the conversion of file system then you can use Stellar Phoenix fat ntfs recovery(http://www.stellarphoenixfatntfs.com) tool that will certainly help you to recover the file system and all the files.

I have dropped the use of the drive sharing through windows using the "uploader" software.

Installing Samba on the pogoplug gives you network shares that accurately read the file system of the drive, and access it much more rapidly, with no limitations to the file size on NTFS, and don't require a 3rd party software on the PC, so all computers on your network can see them.

Some day, CE will explain WHY they don't include Samba on the pogos right out of the box...

So, How do you go about Installing Samba on the pogoplg?

Optware. Search around, it'll be worth it!

Here is a starting point:
