Ok, I'll see if I can help you on a few of these :)
1. If you're already encoding your video in a format the Pogoplug can stream natively, and you're ok with that process, then you won't get anything "new" with the Pogoplug Video per se, other than being able to stream from certain camcorders. However, you will be able to bypass the transcoding process and simply stream video on the fly, which could save you a lot of time and hassle.
2. It's possible the Drive software might encounter problems with a company firewall, depending on how zealous it is. I'm not sure what ports you would have to open--perhaps somone on the forums knows?
3. As far as I know, the Pogoplug can only be used to show up as a shared iTunes library with the Plugapps project and Firefly installed--I don't know of any other way, and it won't do that natively out of the box. It will show up as shared libraries on the XBOX 360, PS3, and Seagate FreeAgent Theater. I don't know about the AppleTV.
4. The Pogoplug does not currently work as a Time Machine drive.
5. The official site lists Pogoplug Video compatible formats as follows: AVCHD, H.264, MPEG-4, MJPEG, MPEG-2, DivX?

I am keen to buy a pogo plug and join the community of pogo plug users. So i have a bunch of questions.
1: Should i wait for the pogoplug video or buy the existing model. I encode all my video for playback on my mac and iDevices in MP4 H.294, which seems to be the format the current poogplug transcodes "to" for streaming. So what advantage will paying an extra $100 for the pogoplug video give me?
2: Its important to me that i can access my data from the office. Im sure i can get to my data via the pogoplug webpages and download them if i needed too, but i understand that there is software that will make the pogo plug volumes appear as if they were native volumes attached to my mac. Will I hit my company firewall in this mode of operation? If so what ports would need to be opened? Id like to be able to "quick-look" and browse inside "Finder", before deciding to open or copy them.
3: I saw when browsing various articles an article to allow Pogoplug contents to be published as if it were a shared Itunes library. This seems interesting, has anyone tried to see if this works with Apple TV? it would seem feasible, but before laying out hard earned cash id be interested if some has actually done this?
4:It would be useful to use pogo plug to share my back up drive for backup over the network. In this use case is will Time Machine work?
a)locally?
b)remotely, incase i needed to do a restore while on the road?
Thanking you in advance

So is it safe to say that the Pogoplug Video version is unable to stream the .AVI movies and videos that I have in been storing on my external drive for the past few years?
As a video-movie_phile this would be my primary motivation for such a product.
I convert all my video to H264 why does pogoplug concider it not transcoded and will retranscode it again?
If this is the case is there a bit rate and setting pogoplug would suggest?

Oh by the way I couldnt find any reference in the marketing collateral that actually states the video formats that the pogo plug video will transcode from?
