Hi,

Re-posting this thread here because I hadn't seen any official responses in a while. I think everyone would agree this is very high on the list for enhancements to what is otherwise a great product. But without true Dropbox like synchronization it falls short of other products in the marketplace. Do you have a timeline for this feature?

Thank you, Dan

Hello,

"""
@zepyaf - I wouldn't say soon. It's definitely on our roadmap, but if you are looking for a guarantee that you'll get that featureset this year, I can't give it to you. If that's a must have I'd recommend you wait or perhaps find another solution. We want all the customers we can get, but we also want our customers to be happy.

I'm probably going to have to echo that reply. I'm inclined to recommend using a 3rd Party app and point it at the SRC-folder and DST-folder; one of which being the Pogoplug from the DriveApp. At least for the time being.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for the response. While I wish you were saying it would be rolled out sooner rather than later, I guess I can try and figure out how to use a third party app with Pogoplug. Have you guys tested any of these apps to see if they work properly? Someone recommended Sync Toy (link below) but I don't know if it works with pogoplug. Is this pretty straightforward or should you guys write-up a brief "How To" document for those of us who need this functionality prior to having the feature part of PogoPlug?

Actually, I have heard success with SyncToy from other users. That would be my first choice for Windows Users.

Linux users should use "rsync" at the command line.

OSX users, not sure... maybe SilverKeeper.

So for those using SyncToy would you just turn "off" the pogo plug active sync functionality all together? Would be duplicative correct?

Also, if I want to use the pogo plug mainly for Video hosting / streaming is there anyway to retrofit a standard Pogoplug (bought mine about a year ago) or is the PogoPlug Video going to be far superior in this task?

Indeed, you would not use Pogoplug's ActiveCopy if you're using SyncToy.

The Pogoplug Video has a at least 2 hardware changes.
- A chip dedicated to making transcoding fast.
- A fan to keep the Pogoplug from overheating.

Question on using SyncToy. Everytime I restart my laptop (Win XP) it seems to assign a new drive letter to the pogoplug connected drives.

I have two 1.5T terabyte Western Digital Essential Desktop drives connected to the pogoplug. So how do I use a scheduled synchronization software like SyncToy or SecondCopy if the drive letters keep changing on every boot-up / log on?

Thank you, Dan

Disable "multi-drive mode".
You should always get the drive-letter, "P".
Now, within the the P-drive, there will be folders that represent each drive you have.

Thus you can do something like:
C:\MyMusic --> P:\My1.5TB_Drive_1
C:\MyCoolVideos --> P:\My1.5TB_Drive_2

That should work.

I would like to see this as well. I use two 1 TB hard drives on my Pogoplug and have active copy basically copy one to the other to create a backup of my "primary" drive.

After months of mucking around in my primary drive deleting files I no longer need the "backup" drive gets a bit messy. It would be nice to not to have to either have to go in and clean up the backup drive ever so often or taking the scorched earth method of deleting everything on the backup drive and starting a new active copy. I would rather the "backup" always be a mirror image of the "primary" drive. It would be nice if it also included some sort of delay before it started syncing (just in case I go oops and delete the wrong file, I can restore it in X amount of time).

Obviously the third party route isn't going to work well for me since I'm syncing between drives on my Pogoplug and not between my PC and Pogoplug.

This just seems like functionality that should already be a part of the Pogoplug software.

Just my two cents.

Exactly What I am looking for as well. Its a bit disturbing this isn't part of the native functionality in first place. I mean, it seems to me this is pretty core to the usability of this whole storage solution.
