I have purchased a Pogoplug and successfully plugged a WD Passport 750.

However, when I try to open a folder (for example with pictures inside) there is an error message saying the drive is not available. I can still see the HD is connected but can not access the folders...

Anyone has any idea on what to do?

Thanks

Hello,

When you connected the drive, did you allow the "Scanning media" job to complete?
This job usually starts anytime a new drive is connected. You'll see it in the Settings->MediaSettings page. This job indexes all your files to a small database on the drive. Not allowing it to complete will result in the symptoms you're describing.

Thanks,

Also make sure that pogoplug is updated to 2.5.9 if it is a Pro. You can see that besides the drive on my.pogoplug.com. You can also attach the disk directly to your computer and check the disk (depending on what system you use). As libtoks.so mentioned, allow the scanning media to complete. Some users, unaware of this process, may disconnect the drive while the process is happening and corrupt the indices.

Stupid question - how do you update? The download page offers 2.5.5 and my my.pogoplug.com page says 2.6.5.1

Hi guys,

Thanks for your help, I solved it.
It just took a lot of time to complete the scanning media. I unplugged the HD, repaired it nd re-launch the scanning media and it worked fine.

Update is done by cloud engines, just leave your plug connected to the internet. I was just addressing the Pro http://www.pogoplugged.com/forum/thread/15278/Pogoplug-Pro-Firmware-Update-2.... I don't know what the version is now but after that one, my Pro is as stable as my old Pink V2, like a rock (only more functional).

PogoPlug will not recognize my Passport hard drive. Is this due to the drive not pulling energy from a powered source and PogoPlug does not have sufficient energy to run the drive? Any other potential reasons why PogoPlug does not see the drive?

That is possible. If your drive has a place for an ACadapter to be plugged in, you should try that. Or, get a Y-Usb cable to connect 2 USBports from the Pogoplug to your drive and see if that works:

I installed an empty Passport drive and Pogoplug recognized it almost immediately. I suspect I did not give the nearly full Passport drive time to be recognized.
