I posted in another thread, but thought I might be better served creating a new one just in case. My issue is essentially slow transcoding. After viewing some of the troubleshooting guides available, I've altered the media settings on my Pogoplug (basic version) to "Auto-Generate full transcode" and the other two options below to "as soon as possible". This fixed the issue I was having before that prevented me from seeing more than the 1st 10 seconds of any video when off my home network. However, I've had the process running for over a week and it is moving extremely slow. Is there anyway to speed up the process?

It may bear noting that my eventual goal is to create a means of accessing my music from anywhere I perform (i'm a dj) and the videos are just an added bonus. Based on how fast it is moving at this point however, I'm looking at about 11 months before that will be even a remote possibility. Thanks in advance for your help!

The only way to speed it up would be to transcode the videos on your computer first and then put them on your Pogoplug's hard drive.

What I did was partition a larger 1TB+ hard drive into several smaller partitions. This makes it so each partition is given its own hard drive letter from the Pogoplug.

So, for instance, I have 1 partition that I keep my backups on that I don't ever need unless there is a computer crash. I never scan it with the Pogoplug.

I have another partition for putting music, docs, photos and videos on that I don't need scanned.

Then another "play with' partition for testing things and the last partition for videos and other things that I allow to be transcoded.

The same idea might work for you.

To Brandon C,

What's the sense in having a "backup" on a partition of the same drive? That's like having an extra car on a train to hop on to if the bridge is broke ahead? Both the first train car and the "backup" are gonna go down. Most hard drive failures I've had hit the whole drive, not just a portion.

To everyone else,

Has anyone seen a valuable thread answered by Pogoplug? All my concerns are not answered. Some are as old as middle of last year?

I had one good answer on setting the Clock.. but I wish I read this forum earlier.. and not believed the sales pitch videos. I guess there is going to be a surplus of Pogoplugs on Ebay soon if CloudEngines does not up their game, as there are competing products being released for less money.

I'm pretty surprised with how slow the transcoding is going. I've transferred about 90 gigabytes of video and it's taking many hours per video. I'm seeing about 5 videos per day, so it could be months before it's finished.
