I am trying to download the files from my.pogoplug.com but when I click on the download icon nothing happens. I am on my office network and I don't face any restrictions while downloading files including .exe files from any other website. I have dropbox account and I don't face any problem while downloading any files from the dropbox on my office network. When I contacted the  pogoplug support they informed me that the "pm1.pogoplug.com UDP port 4365 for remote file transfers" should be open on my office network.

My question is what is so specific about the pogoplug service and why it is not using any standard ports which other websites use. can I do something specific with my pogoplug device to make it use some other ports for remote file transfer. I tried to do a google search on the topic and didn't find anything. How about the openpogo, will that also run into the same problem for file transfers.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

Could you try using the DriveApp to download files?
http://www.pogoplug.com/home-en-support-downloads.html
If this doesn't work, then we'll probably have you turn on logging for the DriveApp to see exactly what is stopping downloads from working.

Another thing that could cause this is files being changed on the drive outside of Pogoplug's DriveApp or WebUI. In which case, removing .cedata from the drive would allow the pogoplug to re-index the file list. Please note this deletes any transcoded videos, thumbnails, metadata processing from the Pogoplug and it will start over on that process.

.cedata is a hidden folder that is at the root of your drive. You'd need to safely eject the drive from the Pogoplug using the WebUI, plug the drive into your PC/OSX, find a folded called ".cedata" at the top level of the drive and delete it.

Thanks for the reply.

I am using the pogoplug drive app on my system and it is working perfectly when I am in my local network. When I connect from my office network using pogoplug drive app, most of the time it fails to connect and if it shows the drives at all when I double click or right click on the drive icon it hangs there. I can't even kill the process most of the time I have to restart the computer as trying to kill the process screws up the windows explorer.

How do I start the logging for the DriveApp?

I am trying to download the word documents from the connected drives and no other user or software is accessing those files when I am trying to download them. I am the sole user on the system.

Do the following only if you're comfortable with Registry Modifications on your system:

- Ensure the DriveApp is not running in the task-list.
- Bring up an MS-DOS/CMD.EXE prompt
- Type "Regedit" and press enter
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pogoplug\ppfs
You'll probably see things like userdir, sync.dontshowsyncwizard, installdir, etc/
- With the ppfs folder highlighted in the left-side panel of regedit, click on the EDIT->NEW->StringValue. You'll get a "New Value#1" appear.
- Rename it to "logseverity"
- Double-click on "logseverity" and type "17" there. Click okay.

Now, start the driveApp and attempt the same operation that causes it to hang. Afterwards try to kill the process anyway you can.

For windows 7, the log file will be at C:\Users\*Currently logged in user*\AppData\Roaming\Pogoplug called ppfs.log and ppfs.log.toupload
For WinXP, C:\Document and Settings\*Currently logged in user*\Application Data\Pogoplug

This file might be big, but we need it to figure out what's going on. Once you have these files, please copy them someplace safe before restarting the DriveApp. We might provide a place to FTP your logs to.

Thanks

I made the required settings in my registry but I don't see a "Pogoplug" folder in the C:\Document and Settings\*Currently logged in user*\Application Data folder. I restarted the system and started the pogoplug DriveApp but I don't see the log.

Should I reinstall the DriveApp with any specific option?

I should say though with the latest patch update on my pogoplug I able to see the drives consistently using the DriveApp though accessing the drive leads to the same issue of not responding.

Just to be clear, When I say *Currently logged in user*, I mean the actual username you're logged in as on your PC. For example, the Win7 PC I'm using right now I am logged in as "CEUSER". So logs are stored at "C:\Users\CEUSER\AppData\Roaming\Pogoplug"

It sounds like you're using WinXP, so for me that would be "C:\Document and Settings\CEUSER\Application Data\Pogoplug"

What version of the DriveApp are you using? If you rightclick on its icon in the systray, you'll see the version. It's one of the greyed-out options.

I am using WinXp and I am able to find the Pogoplug folder under the administrator not my user. Below is the path,

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Pogoplug

I am using the DriveApp version 2.5.5

I can see multiple log files with names as ppfs_SVMV4J2XGM6SJDHLRRHUSFFG32_fyAQZpVhrRDV4lAVpyfXKQ.log etc. I think this is due to multiple restart of the computer after the failure of DriveApp. Should I delete all these log files and generate a new one or just upload all the failed attempts.

Where should I upload these log files for analysis.

Thanks for your Help!
