Hi,

Received my PogoPlug Biz yesterday (swift dealings with the european shipper!) Busy trying to find my way around it and was surprised to find a 'Wireless' entry in the settings screen.  It appears to have WiFi built in - which I (think I) proved by entering my wireless password and disconnecting the ethernet cable.  I still managed to access the pogoplug and up/download files from it.

The blurb on pogoplugs website suggests that only the 'pro' version has built in WiFi - and not the 'Biz'  So... have I missed something or have I a strange hybrid version?

Cheers

Jeff

What color is it? See here on the different devices and abilities.

Maybe you have a Pro?

Well, according to the chart it certainly looks like the Biz (white box with black stand) but the label on the bottom says it is the Pro! But in the settings it permits me to customise the UI and email sections.  This is getting strange!  Perhaps I should contact customer service?

Thanks again

Jeff

It gets stranger! I've just checked the label on the box (the box is marked Pogoplug Biz) but the ID label has the model as "Pogoplug Pro BIZ - UK" I've submitted a support request and I'll let you know what the pogoplug support team tell me when they get back from the New year holiday!
Thanks
Jeff

IS this correct that the UK BIZ edition now includes built in wireless adaptor??

JohnB_UK:
My version certainly does. I don't know how long it will last though, I've a feeling they may disable it in a future firmware flash! - here is the response from my support call to Pogoplug:

Hi Jeff,

This is Christopher, Director of Pogoplug Support.

Actually, new Biz units shouldn't have shipped with the wireless feature enabled and will likely be disabled in the not to distant future. Because Biz units would likely be accessed more than regular Pogoplug's we thought it better than Biz units be set up only using a wired connection.

Should you require further assistance, please reply to this email. Otherwise this ticket will close in about 24 hours. Even after it closes, feel free to contact us at http://support.pogoplug.com/requests/anonymous/new

Kind Regards
Christopher

Good Luck
Jeff

Have just finally ordered the BIZ version (UK)

If anyone from Pogoplug reads this thread, please can the WIFI option on the Biz pogoplugs be enabled, let the user decide of its a btter option to be hard wired or use the built-in Wifi.

I dont want to use up a USB port with an Wireless adapter,
when the fucntionality already exits within the Pogoplug unit....

POGOPLUG PLEASE READ & UNDERSTAND............. !!!!!

Any other BIZ users have any thoughts on this ???

Too late it's not enabled anymore.

Have just received my Pogoplug-Biz. I have Wireless on board (can see all wifi accesspoints from my settings). Same strange naming/label thing (Hostname via network is Pogoplug-Pro), but i can add additional users (Biz-Feature).
Seems Biz only uses other admin software.
