I set my pogoplug to transcode video for me as it has found 300 video filles, once it transcoded a couple I pulled them up on my samsung captivate and it still says video is not supported.

Does anyone have a suggestion. I have tried mp4 as well as avi files and both say not supported. I have no issue streaming audio...

Thanks in advance for the assistance!!

Hello,

For the Android OS, we currently support 2.1 and 2.2.
The GingerBread(v2.3) is not supported yet.

If you feel that your Samsumg Captivate is running 2.1 or 2.2, please create a support ticket at support.pogoplug.com

Thanks,

I can't view videos either on mine. Same error 'not supported'.

I get the same error on a HTC Desire 2.2. I have transcoded it to h.264 and aac which work fine on my iPad. I was wondering if it had something to do with the fact I have also added a second track with AC3 for my playstation.

@garey
Is that the WebUI, Xbox360 or Playstation 3?

@michealh
We don't support the Gingerbread Android yet. Try using a video without this 2nd track and see if that works... or see if any video at all works. Also, all the mobile apps have updates in the works. When they're released we hope to have alot of these issues resolved.

Hello, I am still on Froyo. I will give it a try with one track and see how I get on.

Looking forward to the apps

Hi libtoks, just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work. I am confident that you all will make Pogoplug a perfect product sooner or later.

I am running Android 2.2 as well. I get pretty good quality when I stream to my phone while at home, but either do not get good quality when I am out and about, or get a message that says "file not supported" (I encode all of my videos in h.264 btw through Handbrake's High Profile preset; I set Handbrake to encode as a web optimized format as well, anamorphic is strict, and I click on forced subtitles as well). These settings, BTW, work perfect when streaming to PS3.

Just thought I would throw those facts out there so maybe they could help you with working the bugs out for future updates. Thanks again to you and your team for all the hard work.

PS - I am on TMobiles 4G network, and speed tests indicate the 4G speed is pretty comparable to the speed of the wifi in my home...

I have tried some videos which do not have a second track and they work fine. So it must be that Android does not like 2 tracks on a video file. I have also recently updated my Desire to 2.3 and the pogo app still works, also lets me choose which App I want to open them in. Not sure if that is new to 2.3 or something HTC stop me doing. So if I installed another video player on my film I will not need to transcode file's to get them to play.

Yes it can be done janu. Tell them to go to their management suite in my.pogoplug.com. Once they are in there, tell them to hover the mouse over the video that they want to share with you, and tell them to click on the green icon that looks like one person standing in front of another person. It should give them the option to share the video with you by entering your email address in a box that is right next to text that says "invite people". You should then get an email telling you to create a Pogoplug account that will allow you to download this file from your friend. Hope this all helps.
