After many shenanigans with Plugapps and maybe dodgy flash drives (or flash drives vaped by installing and yanking from the PP), I now have a PP (Pink) that will not see any USB drive - flash or HDD - connected to it.  After long stretch when the light would only glow orange, it now glows green although nothing shows in my.pogoplug.  On the CLI, 'mount' shows only the rootfs and jffs2 that are '/', no external drives, alas.

Is this a symptom I can fix?  ANy links that you can suggest to help me get a bit wiser?  Plugapps.com is down as of the moment...

Hello,

Please post the results of the following commands:
cat /etc/init.d/rcS
cat /etc/init.d/hbmgr.sh
ls -la /usr/local/cloudengines/bin

Or even better yet, make a ticket at support.pogoplug.com containing your DeviceID and reference this thread. If your device isn't too messed up, we can probably just force-upgrade it from here and restore it to a standard firmware.

No promises though, because using PlugApps always has the risk of damaging a Pogoplug beyond the point of being remotely fixable.

Thanks,

The only limit to the Pogoplug is your imagination... and C skills... and linux skills. ^_^ h\t\tp://download.pogoplug.com/opensource/pogoplug-gcc.tar.bz2

Thanks for that. I have ticketed this. If the outcome is of possible public use I will relay it here.

I hope this is not unreasonable but it's been a while now and I'm hoping nothing has got lost at CE Support. I made a ticket and am hoping their Holidays are now a happy memory.

Sounds like you got rid of the cloud engines services. Like the rep said, check rcS because it probably got wiped out. If you do have command line access and they have not yet updated your system. You can try "mount /dev/sda1 /tmp/.cemnt" to see if the drive can be accessed depending on how it was formatted (could be the drive itself). Also try sdb1, sdc1, sdd1. Here is a link to the original rcS "http://plugapps.com/static/docs/pogoplug-v2-rcS". You can try to execute /etc/init.d/hbmgr.sh which should bring back pogoplug services.

I've got the same issue and my green light wont even show on the front. I take it theres no chance of a forced restore for me ?

Hy

I messed up my rcS file as well, I am able now to make a serial connection to it with CA-42 cable but i dont know what to do to bring back the rcS.

I have a E02 pogoplug with a flashing light now.
