I'm a happy owner of a 'Pink' Pogo and have been so happy with it that I got one for my brother when it was on sale (he is not very technical so I figured this was made for him). We went through the activation and everything went well, however no matter what we do we can't find the attached hard drive. We tried a thumb drive also in the front port and no luck. I get "Attached drive not detected", tried refresh, tried unplugging and restarting but still no luck. My non-tech brother is getting frustrated and I'm not looking so good on my side. Is there anything I can do to get this to work?

Thanks

Running Mac OS X.5.8

I'd like to piggyback on Paul's post. I'm a technical guy, but I'm having the same problems. I've repaired and even repartitioned my drive--a WD Passport--but my.pogoplug.com still reports that:

Your Pogoplug enabled device does not have a hard drive attached.

Normally I would do more research and tinkering before posting, but this does not seem to be a terribly uncommon problem. From what I can tell so far, there isn't one solution to whatever might be going on.

I have a brand-spanking new Pogoplug Pro and, according to the UI, I'm running UI version 2.5.6 & service version: 2.5.6.1. Assuming I'm reading this properly on my settings page, my firmware version is 2.5.9.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey guys. I own a seagate GoFlex Net which uses this same pogoplug service. I am runnig mac OSX 10.6. I recently ran into this also. For weeks I have been trying to figure out why my drives where no longer showing up. Yesterday I discovered something that answered my question. I recently set up my MacBook Pro to run in 64bit mode. Since then I have not been able to mount my pogoplug disk to my desktop. Then digging around in my computer I was cleaning files and getting rid of stuff I no longer needed. In the past I have installed MacFuse on my system and thought I no longer needed it so I uninstalled it. This caused the pogoplug app to show a error message. When researching the error I discovery I needed MacFuse for pogoplug to setup file directories on my mac..OOPs. I also realized that when you install the pogoplug software it installs a 32bit kernal of MacFuse which does not properly operate under the 64bit mode in OSX.(At least not for me) There is a 64Bit MacFuse which is hard to find online. I tried installing it but I still have no luck with mounting the pogoplug drives in 64bit mode. All is well in the 32bit mode of OSX. It would be great if someone can look into this to get this working in 64bit so I can use all my 8GB of ram I purchased and to use for my other software.

Let me know if you guys have any luck with this.

you can force your mac into 32Bit mode by holding down the keys "3" and "2" together before startup.

I had this problem when trying to use the pogoplug for both my mac and pc with a 1.5TB WD HDD. It was working fine on my PC but it would not show up when I tried to access it through mypogoplug on my mac. The problem in my case (and I assume your cases as well) is that the HDD is formatted as NTFS. In order for the Mac to recognize the drive you either have to reformat your drive as FAT 32 so that it will work with both the Mac and PC, or install something like NTFS-3G for Mac which allows the Mac to read/write to NTFS drives. I installed NTFS-3G off apple's website and it worked perfectly.

I've been having the same problem for months - in fact, my PP (Pink) worked great when I got it, but I thought it had failed. I'm trying to figure out how to force a firmware upgrade. The software is working - a friend's files that he shares are still available to me. My PP still tells me there is no drive attached - and I have four on it now (even when I have one, it doesn't work.) I'm in 32 bit mode on a MacBook Pro. Today I updated MacFuse. Still no joy. Beginning to think PP can't keep up with software upgrades. Hoping someone else broke through this roadblock.

Just activated a Pogoplug Biz and getting similar error "no drive attached" .. but there is. Have now tried with three different drives that all mount fine directly to the machine. (Mac OS X 10.6.6) and have verified all with disk utility.

Not sure if it is related but we noticed also that we cannot copy a file to the drive using the local Pogoplug app without getting error message "One or more items can't be copied to "Files shared with me" because you don't have permission to read them". Of course we checked and we do... there is only one Adminstrator account on this Mac in any case.

Has this first problem been open since December or are there fixes posted elsewhere? We would really like to try the Pogoplug out. The videos make it look easy... We don't feel real smart right now. Thanks!

I started this thread back in December and I eventually got it working, fortunately it turned out to be the drive. The pogoplug support had me check the drive via 'Disk Utility' (mac) and then boot up the pogplug first and then add the drive last. My brother had a drive that was not good/corrupt. Plugging in another exterior drive that he had worked. Sorry to hear so many people having problems, I did put a not so nice 'Tweet' out to pogoplug and I had instant response and a direct contact with 2nd tier support. Wish everyone Good Luck.

I also got it working, but by actually rebooting the PogoPlug. I verified my drives many, many times and ultimately, in a fit of frustration, just unplugged the PogoPlug. When I plugged it back in, everything just worked.

im having the same problem, im using a 1tb WD hd and running a window 32 vista (which sucks) machine. the pogoplug cant find anything i attach to it, ipod, flash drive, and external hd. i have tried resetting all the devices and verifing that they are good along with using other ports on the plug.

I bought my Pink Pogoplug yesterday. I'm having the same problem, my Pogoplug can't find my USB drive (500GB) nor any of my 3 thumb drives. The device can be registered with no problem, so it must not be a connection problem. I've tried unplugging the Pogoplug, but still no luck. If this continues, I'm gonna to get a refund tomorrow, and will Blog my (FAE) less than prefect review on the device.

Pogoplug Pro worked fine for some months, but then, no idea why, it did not find the hard drive anymore - no changes in hard ware whatsoever !
I already switched on and off the hard disc as well as the pogo plague for several times, but no success - so I am about stop my pogo experience - forever !
