so i got one of these pogoplug pros today. Received it at 10:50 a.m. Plugged it in, and went through the activation process. It's now 1:08 p.m. and still waiting for an email to complete the process. Submitted ticket, and was responded to by email immediately to the same email addy as well. So how long must I wait for a activation email? I figured 2 hours would be long enough....or is it being handled by snail mail?

I am in the same boat. Been waiting on an activation e-mail as well. I tried resending the activation e-mail but an error comes back saying that my e-mail is invalid. Yet, I am able to get into the sign-in page with it. ??? Support page indicates that questions are answered 24/7 but details on the right say support is gone until Monday.

December 24, 2010 12:25 PM

support is useless. I'm still waiting for an email since 6 days ago on a pre-sales question..............it's ok, I can still return the device next week if I don't get a verification email and be done with it. I'll just have to get another NAS and forget about these plugs!

December 24, 2010 12:27 PM

Same thing. It looks like the form they are using isnt working correctly.

With Christmas being today/tomorrow they are going to have a massive customer support issue on their hands.

December 24, 2010 12:34 PM

yeah well I'll just RMA the box next week, support or not, it's going back in the mail if I don't get a verification email.

December 24, 2010 12:36 PM

Yeah, I too am still waiting for the verification email.

December 24, 2010 1:14 PM

Same problem here, went through activation, never got email to continue.
Went back through regular site, and created this account. I can log in using the email I used in activation process.

When I go back to activation, it asks for big long serial number, when I enter it, it says the box has already been registered to another account. I'm sure it's only been registered to me.

Looks like I'm going to have to return my unit. I may just return it, so I can get another shot at registration with a different unit. Or maybe I'll just return it and get the AppleTV and/or SlingBox.

Is this company out of business? It's hard to imagine registration is such a PITA.

its amazing no the busiest time of the year they don't have at least one person monitoring their system. I don't mean to be a Grinch but come on, it's a mandatory part of setting up their system. They should have a fall back.

Now I have to spend time with my family... haha

December 24, 2010 2:17 PM

Having the same activation issue. Will be returning this right after Christmas. If they don't have their stuff together any better then this they will be out of business soon.

December 24, 2010 2:19 PM

Agreed. I'm returning mine.
I might try to reactivate a new unit, before I completely give up.

I recommend everyone return at least one unit, and retry it.
It will hit them in the pocketbook - having to deal with all the RMA units.

If we can't get our second unit to work, I get to "charge" them twice ;)

BTW, I sent an email to support

I also emailed one reviewer on their latest $15M injection into the company on this and gave him the link to this thread. I also emailed one of the board members of Cloud Engines and also gave him the same link! I'll look into reviewers online when I have time this weekend to give them the same links......hopefully, this thread will have grown to 50 pages! LOL!

and send a comment to this guy..I'm sure he'll love all the emails!! He works for Cloud Engines!

I've also tried activation, but have failed to get an email. Haven't tried creating on the regular site though. Activation process is probably just borked, maybe overloaded. I'll give them a few days to figure it out, then I'm selling (had mine too long to return... just taken to long to get everything set up).

He's just a testing guy.  It's better to email the money guys who invested.  They have email addresses at http://www.foundrygroup.com/team/

Yeah, I know he's only one of the testers, but let him get flooded with emails anyway and test THIS!! One of the guys on your link, the Ryan guy, I already had emailed him from a different link, not at Foundrygroup.

December 24, 2010 3:17 PM

just got an email from Brad Feld @ Foundrygroup

This is what he replied to me.....guess it's going right to the top!!

brad@foundrygroup.com

Copying Dan Putterman, the CEO of Cloud Engines.

My guess is the activation notice is getting spam blocked in a specific case.

Dan - take a look at the thread.

Ok so everyone reading this, email this guy Brad at the email I included just above and let him know your problems..........and include the link to this thread.

and there's another email from Putterman himself...............to me, cc: brad@foundrygroup.com cc: brad@cloudengines.com cc:ryan@foundrygroup.com

Guys--we're on this. I am copying my other two co-founders Jed and Brad
so we can get to the bottom of this asap.

Thanks and sorry for the hassle.

Interesting they're getting involved, but glad. My activation is going to a hotmail account, so I was definitely thinking it could be a splam block issue or just hotmail's delayed delivery, but almost 2 hours is alot of delay, even for hotmail.

I've heard good things about the product on the whole, but it is a little odd that they wouldn't have bodies around during what is likely to be a high activation period, even if it does mean having to pay someone overtime and whatever else for the holidays.

ya, well you can't register the device again, since you already registered it under the same serial number, so you know that they've already got it in their database............it's only the verification number that we all have to wait for......I don't think their out of business............not just yet anyway, let's see if some of their $$ supporters pulls the "plug" on their Pogolug!!

Last update for me, I'm gone...........it's f'n Xmas!

This from the CEO [Dan Putterman] of Cloud Engines: cc:'d to everyone on my list above, and updated to jed@cloudengines.com and chris@cloudengines.com as well.

Hi-so here's a quick status: we rarely have activation problems and when
we do, it's usually a spam-mail related issue. Regardless, my number one
priority is to get you online and happy as quickly as humanly possible.
In fact, our support team can manually activate new devices when
necessary. Because of the holiday, everyone's response team is slower
than normal. I have calls and emails into people and I hope to be back to
you very shortly.

Again, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience--I know how disappointing it
is to get a new product and not have it start working immediately.

Talk to you shortly,

Daniel

Not a spam filter thing on this end.

December 24, 2010 3:55 PM

Interestingly, the resend activation email page does nothing when you click "Send Email"...another symptom...

December 24, 2010 4:42 PM

Same problem, no email and can't get the webpage to resubmit the email address either. The funny part is when I loaded the software on my palm pre I can see the drive!

December 24, 2010 4:50 PM

OK, another spin on things. I just uploaded a photo from my phone to the pogoplug. I can open it and see it from my palm pre but still not able to verify my account.

December 24, 2010 4:57 PM

Same problem for me. Just so we all know I have a gmail account so we have a idea of where we all are. I came here to find out what I was doing wrong and I found this thread. =8(

December 24, 2010 5:32 PM

It's not a gmail problem, and it's not a spam filter problem.

From secure server login, it lets you type in username/password... then it says email has been sent... no email...So click to resend activation, type in email... click send email... nothing happens... Go back to login screen try again... fail again...
