I downloaded the Linux 64 but software and installed it according to the instructions posted on these forums, and the drive mounted, and I can access it just fine, but the terminal window I launched it from never closes.  Am I doing something wrong?

I am running 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04.

Also of some concern to me is after it runs for a while I start seeing other people's e-mail addresses in the terminal window. I have never seen these addresses before.  I'm assuming these are other fellow pogoplug users, but it greatly concerns me that this kind of personal info is being broadcast.  This has all the makings of a personal privacy lawsuit in the making.

Here is an example of what I am seeing (I removed the e-mail names with ### to protect the innocent):

[000107.024][140638][HBFUSE][08]     -- READDIR NO ROOM [0 < 56] {18843} '###@verizon.net.contact'

Hello,

This is correct.
The pogoplugfs binary for linux will never exit.

If you want to be able to exit the terminal without terminating the pogoplugfs process & losing access to your drive(s), you could run it in the background(& symbol at the end of the command) then close the window.

The only limit to the Pogoplug is your imagination... and C skills... and linux skills. ^_^ h\t\tp://download.pogoplug.com/opensource/pogoplug-gcc.tar.bz2

Cool. Thanks.
So how about the random e-mail addresses? Why am I seeing that? Can other people see my e-mail address too?

The strings that appear to be valid emails might just be a network routing thing. I'm pretty sure nobody really has "@verizon.net.contact" emails. I will double-check this on Ubuntu and ask our engineers.

Stay tuned.

I realize that e-mail adresses don't end in .contact. If you parse off the .contact from the end, it is a valid e- mail adresss. I found one of them on a web site as a sales contact for the web site.

Just wanted to add that the above is just an example of one of about 5 different e-mail adresses I saw come up in the terminal window during a one hour session. I'm sure if I left it open longer I would see even more.

Yup, haven't forgotten about this.

I've just been shown the C code that prints out those messages. Those emails you're seeing are actual files and/or directories on your drives that have emails in their names.

Also, We have no user in our system with "hilltopmemories.com" as part of their email. Please search your harddrive for any files or folders with the string "contact" in it.

Thanks,

I finally found where the e-mail addresses were coming from. My son had backed up a bunch of files from school for a friend. One of the files was a contact list from Outlook buried in series of folders.

Thanks for all the help.
