I'm really liking my Dockstar (PP) as a NAS for backup storage and media streaming alike.

One thing I recently discovered however is my file names were getting trashed.  This is due to the Mac naming conventions being much more open than what is supported on PP.  It's always been a problem going all the way to the 80s - Macs were always ahead of the curve on this, and still are on some systems.

Specifically, I noted that any file where I used the following characters  /  "  .  got skewed and was assigned a bizarre symbol instead of the character.  There are probably many more which are also not supported that I did not use - or did not detect...

This created a huge mess of duplicates when I was using Chronosync to sync directories between backup copies.

Word of advice - stick with simple DOS naming limitations only.  This basically means letters and numbers only with a few exceptions.

If you use most anything else - you're going to get a big disappointment, and have a lot of work ahead of you to undo, and clean up the mess.  Yell
