What role, if any, does the .cedata directory play in Active Copy?

Previously, I had Drive A connected to Pogoplug and Drive B also connected to Pogoplug. I am pretty sure it was at this time that the .cedata directory was created on Drive A. (Incidentally, I was using the web-based Active Copy to backup files from Drive A to Drive B.)

I have since moved Drive A and have connected it directly to my PC. And I am now using the PC-based Activity Copy to backup files from Drive A to Drive B (which is still behind the Pogoplug).

So is it safe for me to delete the cedata directory on Drive A? Pogoplug is no longer using it, right?

@weaverdrew, .cedata is where Pogoplug stores all your metadata. This allows the Music, Photos, Movies, and data filters to work properly in the Web UI, and also allows your thumbnails and transcodes to be viewed (if you chose to generate them). If you remove .cedata, Pogoplug will need to rescan your files and regenerate .cedata later.

@grrsh,

Yes.

- Sign into your acct via the Web UI
- Go to Settings -> Media Settings
- Select your Pogoplug device from the dropdown menu
- Set "Generate photo and video thumbnails" to Never
- Click Apply Changes
