I' trying to stream music, video or pictures from my pogoplug to a BDP-S370 DLNA Blu ray but I cannot see any file that can be payed. I can see the pogoplug in the BDP-S370 menu and navigate through the folders but even the .mp3 files are not displayed. Does anybody try to use such a config? Is it a pogoplug firmware issue, or a Sony firmware issue, or both??
Many thanks if you have any idea, because I was in the hope of using my pogoplug to stream media instead of connecting an external drive to the blu ray.
i can see pictures. but not music or video. is this because sony is DLNA and dockstar is UPnP?
I am having the same issues with a BDP S570. The Pogoplug device is visible and pictures can be viewed but nothing else. The music folders are visible, but the player says that there aren't any playable files, even though they are MP3's. As for video, the video folder doesn't even show up.
im looking for the same capability and wondering which model of blu-ray player would work. I'm assuming you have set the Media settings on my.pogoplug.com to enable streaming?
I have set the media setting to enable streaming, which is why the pictures and folders show up. I can't figure out why the music is playable even though it's the correct format or why the videos don't show up at all.
here's what I read somewhere else...maybe you can try this..
"I can help. I have just bought this blu ray and I have discovered a "fix". It's a bit annoying, bu it works. If your read the fine print in the manual on playable video formats via DLNA...there is a tiny asterix number next to every format...that leads you to an even smaller print statement about what formats are compatible streaming from a DLNA server. Cut a long story...not vey much!
But I've found a fix. .mkv and .m4v files backed up from handbrake will stream just fine if you change the file name to .avi"
sorry looks like your problem is that even the folder is not visible..ignore my last post
Kiefer,
Does changing the extension to avi cause any issues with playing on any other devices i.e. android/apple ios based devices?
I've been looking into this. The BDP-370 doesn't support m4a files over DNLA (but does over USB pen drive) but should support mp3. I'm going to look into converting my music collection.
Hi,
How do I enable Pogoplug media streaming on my wifi Sony SMP-100n media player? I can access my Pogoplug drives from my wifi enabled laptops. While the media player uses the network to access the internet, it does not "see" the Pogoplug drives. Is there a setting on the my.pogoplug.com that I have to enable? I would appreciate any help with this issue.
Thanks,
dr_ot
Have you made sure to enable streaming from the media settings page of the my.pogoplug.com site?
Thanks for your prompt reply. How do I do that? Under media settings I only see "enable streaming to PSP3,theater agent+, etc. Do I need to select "enable" there to stream to my media player? Or is another setting?
Thanks again,
dr_ot
That's the one. You need to set it for each drive you might have connected to the plug.
Sorry to say that I'm still unable to stream media from my wifi Pogoplug drives to my wifi Sony media player. Got home and enabled both of my drives. Under "server connection" I re-scanned for the drives on the media player but the drives still do not show up. System information shows the correct IP address and the player works with internet. Do I need to change the IP or DNS settings? I'm able to see view videos from these drives on my wifi laptops. I feel as though I'm missing a step or a series of steps or have failed to enable/disable a setting.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks,

Im having a similiar issue streaming to a sony bluray player from pogoplug, it only shows up under the photos menu, and I can view photos, but the pogoplug does not show up at all underneath music or video :(
I've had the same problem - unfortunately only got round it by buying an iomega iconnect (don't all kill me at once...). The upnp/dlna side of it pushes mpeg 2 clips perfectly. Unfortunately it's about as flaky as a rusty old ship - the drives keep disappearing, the folder formation is awful and the whole ui is terrible.. but it DOES have dlna. Decisions, decisions....
The video files don't show up until you push the iconnect to scan for them.. then they magically appear in what were, upto then, empty folders. I wonder if that's a possibility on the pogoplug?
If any of you DO get to read this today (30th april) it's worth you going on a website in the UK (only I think) called groupon.com - they've got three months of lovefilm subscriptions for six pounds (which allows streaming on the sony). Sorry if this is off-topic but it could mean there's less of a reason to get rid of the pogoplug!
I am using an lg bd 570 blue ray player and streaming avi and mkv files quite well. i have pogo software loaded on my main computer and shared the "p" drive so when i scan for servers that drive shows up under my server computer as a drive and i can access my files from there. pretty amazing so far loading dts audio as well as 720p video without a hiccup, these are both connected via lan to same router so that may make a difference. I have just checked the stream to ps3 and xbox button and will see if that will show the pogo as its own server on blue ray.
Hope this helps
Ted
Hi i also have the Sony BDP-S570 and I am also looking to watch videos and listen to music on my Pogoplug. I only have the regular pogoplug not the newer black media one. mine is the old pink one. I was also noticing on the web page talking about the regular free software and the paid software. is any of this going to make a differance.
Hey I'm bumping this one back to the top because i still haven't found an answer to how to get movies to show up on my sony blue-ray player.
I guess no one knows the answer, or that there is no answer to this question.
Or at least no one (that works at pogoplug) cares to actually fix or even really respond to the forum questions.
because there doesn't seem to be any answers to any of these questions asked about pogoplug.
Oh i can get my sony to see the pogoplug just not see the movies or music i have on there.
the movies are in .VOB
and the music is in .mp3
so not much else to it.
Sounds kinda stupid for the Pogoplug people to claim that you can watch movies and listen to music from blueray players if they dont really offer that as a real option.

I agree with you. I have a S570 Bluray player which recognises the pogoplug but will not play any music from the Toshiba drive attached to it. I am unsure if there is a problem with the pogoplug or the hard drive but no-one on here in the forums or at pogoplug appears to be able (or willing in pogplug's case) to help. I am keen to get rid of soon but may try a substitute drive before I do.
I can get it to work on my iphone but there again I have no desire to listen to music on the one tinny speaker that is available.
On the whole a crap piece of kit.
I can get my iPhone to work as long as I am at home in my own wifi but as soon as I get out of my wifi the iPhone app stops working.
I thought about getting something different but thought the pogoplug doesnt work well as a streaming device but great as an online storage that CAN be accessed from any computer. Just not stream music or movies. So I will still keep the pogoplug as an online storage.
