I got my pogoplug in today and started to work with it immediately.
Now i got a strange phenomenon, when te pogoplug is in my network, all te computers in the network loose their internet connection partly, skype and live messenger keep running.
But i am not able to use my browser.
And really, when i disconnect my pogoplay, all the computers can start 'surfing'.
And during this problem, i can connect to my pogoplay.

Does anyone has an idea?

This problem sounds really odd so i have no idea what it can be, and i am not a stranger when it comes to computers.

Thanks in advance!

Bart

Hello,

Please create a support ticket, giving your DeviceID and brand & model of your router. Also, any other interesting attributes about your network setup. Things like:
- Do you have one of those devices that is a modem+router in one box.
- Did you set up your network yourself, or did a member of your ISP come over and configure both the modem and router.
- What kind of internet connection do you have? DSL, Cable, etc.

The only limit to the Pogoplug is your imagination... and C skills... and linux skills. ^_^ h\t\tp://download.pogoplug.com/opensource/pogoplug-gcc.tar.bz2

I have the same problem. Everything works fine for about 15 minutes, then all computers on the network lose their internet connectivity. My setup is as follows:

Pogoplug > Apple AirPort Base Station > Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem

Hello,

I setup my network myself and i do have the Experiabox from my ISP. This is a 'Siemens Gigaset SX55x'. It is a modem+router in one.
It has 5 lan connections 4 computers and one for the pogoplug. First i had it connected with one of the computers via a switch, but that gave the problem described above, but connecting it to a seperate connection of the modem didn't solve the problem. My internet connection is a DSL connection.

Same problem here with my Siemens Gigaset SX552, aka Experiabox. I have had similar problems with the Experiabox in the past when I started Skype. Disabling uPnp in Skype solved the problem then. But I don't know how to disable (if possible) uPnp for the Pogoplug.

Additional information: the internet connection is not completely lost. Indeed Skype en MSN keep working. But also recently used domains in the browser can still be accessed after connecting the Pogoplug. Seems like the pogoplug changes DNS access, and only recently resolved domainnames can be used.

I also have this same issue. It appears that the pogoplug kills my router... actually... stalls it would be more precise.

My setup:

Comcast 20mps--> cable modem--> D-link 655 Router

Connected to the Router is a wireless bridge(containing 3 pc's(1 vista, 2 win7) on a netgearswitch, then switch to the bridge), two wireless printers, two wireless quad-core win7 laptops, the pogoplug hardwired to the router, and an occasional hardwire quadcore win7 laptop.

Connected to the pogoplug are: 1 750mb simpletech drive, 1 WD 1 TB drive.

Bottomline:
All is fine and appears to be fairly plug and play (all pc's upgraded, pogoplug upgraded fireware etc...) until the internet just stalls. My router just hangs and all activity stops...

If I unplug the power to the pogo, 5 seconds later, everything works fine!

What gives?

I have the same problem when PogoPlug is connected to my Linksys WRT54GS. All internet traffic ceases after 1-2 minutes.
My set Up:
Speed stream DSL Modem connected to Linksys WRT54GS Wireless router
Have ATT DSL
LaCie 2TB drive and Fantom Green 2TB drives are connected to the PogoPlug.

any assistance would be appreciated.
btw I had an Iomega iconnect similiar product that worked on my network without any connection issues, however it was glacially slow when uploading files to the drives. Was hoping for some better performance from the PogoPlug.

Does no one have an idea?
I still have the problem.

Yeah... take it back... In posting a tech support ticket, I got a response that they know it is an issue, not sure they know what to do about it, and that they wanted me to plug it in so they can "watch my traffic" and look at my device and what I am transferring etc...

Wow... nice and secure... everything that goes through pogo is available whenever they feel like looking at it. They could hit all my files... confirmed by their tech support guy... so, I dropped it and took it back to Best Buy.

I had the same problem (computers on network losing browsing capability) but have resolved it by dumbing down the router on the network. I had a Linksys business class router on my network with configurations to actively monitor traffic and prevent DOS attacks. Not sure why the PogoPlug traffic freaked it out, but by turning off the agressive features, I no longer lose the browsing capability.

I tried to delete 2 folders with about 800 files each. After 3+ hours of the drive cranking away I disconnected. At the same time I realized my network was hosed. I had to shut down the pogoplug before the router & cable modem would come back up correctly.

What a crock.

Tech support told me to eject the drive and delete the files on a separate computer and then remount the drive.

Does anyone else see what is wrong with that picture? What's the use of a cloud device you have to remove from the cloud to add or delete any large number of files.

Due to the fact that I switched contract, KPN replaced my Siemens Gigaset SX552 by a Thomson TG789vn. Problem solved and it all works fine since then. So it seems that Pogoplug and the SX552 is not a good combination.
