How do you get rid of the creating an account popup screen when you share a file or directory and give the user read rights only?

Hello,

There are 2 ways to change this.

1) In the Security Settings page, there is a checkbox labeled "Require sign-in to view email shares". UNcheck that box. This s a global setting for all shares created going forward. It does not change the options for shares already created.

2) For an individual share, in the "More sharing options", UNcheck the box labeled "Require sign-in to view this share".

I checked both places and both places didn't have a check mark.  I made a new share and made sure that nothing was checked and I'm still getting the link with an option to create an account when I email out the share with view and download options only.  I do have the full security session checked.  With that checked, it allows me to upload from an outside computer not on my network and from my phone.  If I uncheck that I can't upload from an outside computer.  Do you have any other idea what else could be causing this?

Hi, I have the same issue; have you solved? Thank you, MBL

Oh,

The sign up window that's in the screenshot in your comment?

"Congratulations!
You've successfully received content from a Pogoplug owner.
Now is a great time to sign up for a FREE Pogoplug account"

That currently cannot be disabled.

Hi!
Really hope the sign up window can be disabled. I am testing the pogoplug for professional use to deliver photographs. The sign up window is a drawback for the important first impression, new customers start the register process instead of getting their photos. The possibility of going straight to the download folder is not clear enough.

I am having the same problem. I use this for my students to access my data. I donot want them to open a new account. I wish this could be disabled.

Also can the setting button be disabled so my students cannot change any of the settings once I set them?

I have to agree with the last 2 posts. I bought the Biz version which says that I can Brand my business by "Setting up your interface allows you to create a look that matches your business and an additional way to share files in a professional manner". Requiring my clients to have to deal with the pop-up screen (sign up window) is not a very 'professional manner' !

It looks small time in my opinion and will return the multiple devices that I bought for my different offices if that can't be disabled. What did I pay the extra cost for with the Biz version if I don't want to have my business represented by this sign up window. The few features in the Custom Mail and Custom UI section aren't enough to warrant the extra cost if I have to be advertising your company and not mine.

Please let me know when you've read this posting and when I should expect a reply.

Otherwise the product looks promising.

Thanks.

If you use the "Enable Public Viewing" option in your screenshot, the URL you get will not require sign-in and you can give that URL to anyone who needs it.

If you need more control over who sees the files, sharing to individual is one way to do it. If you share it to emails that were not in our system before, the sign-in popup appears. There is no way to disable that currently, but I will share this thread with our developers right now.

Thats one way to get around it if your sharing files that will not change. If you use the email way and you check let people know when this folder has been changed makes it really easy when you update the files in that folder. You don't have to remember who the original email was sent to when you shared the folder. I hope the developers make it an option to disable that screen on all versions of the pogoplug.

Enable Public viewing will not let you share slideshows.

The questions still have not really been answered. Everything is a work around and then the full function is not there.

Again:
1. How do we get rid of the sign up window. It is affecting my use.
2. How do we get rid of the settings button on the top of the screen. Any user can change the settings, and I do not want them to. This is also affecting my use.

As a Professor at a well known University in New York City, I can not recommend this product as is.

I have to add my voice to this discussion too. It's a very big problem for us when we share files with our clients for them to see that sign-up screen too. Please make that optional.

It would also be great if you could obtain just a direct link to email to clients for their download.

Very interesting...

It looks like a lot of people are starting to chime in on this.
The more people ask, the greater chance of it happening. I will point the developers to this increasing thread.

I thought this was already taken to the developers?

True... but everytime this thread significantly increases, I mention it to them again. This time, even product-design folks have been made aware.

Thanks for all the feedback. This is being addressed in the new UI that is being pushed out in early April. The default intro dialog will use the Biz logo (if a custom logo was defined), and for all device owners a new setting allows this intro dialog to be disabled when sharing to new users.

Thanks,

Jed.

Will this feature be available to all versions of the pogoplug or only biz?
