I'm setting up new users in my Pogo Biz drive, and all seems quite cool with the MASSIVE exception of one thing:

It would appear that the only way for users to get their password is to use the "forgot password" process.

Is this correct? I can't seem to figure out a way to create a password for a new user I've just created. I also can't seem to figure out how they are told to setup a password. It appears that when you set up a new user, they're sent an email with an "access it now" link that takes you to the Web login page. Without any mention of how to create or find their password.

If you use the forget password process, you can create a password, but please tell me I don't need to tell my new users to "use the forgot password process as a way to create/access your password". That's flat out ridiculous.... I'm really hoping I'm wrong.

A bit more background. On this URL:

http://support.pogoplug.com/entries/256428-users-settings

The author says:

"To add a user, click the "Add User" button. Enter their email address and click OK. They will receive an email from Pogoplug asking them to create a password for their account."

This is NOT true. There is no "ask to create a password" on the page. It's just a login page (with a forgot password option) and an option to activate a new pogoplug altogether. No "create password"

Here's the screenshot of what I get when I click through from the account creation email:

Thanks

Jake,

Your timing on this question is amazing.

They just published my article on How to Set Up Multi-User Administration on Pogoplug Biz.

If you see that article you will see it shows how it is supposed to work and did for me when I wrote it.

But after reading your post I tried again and received the same thing as you did.

The email that was sent out to the new user showed his email in the body of the text instead of my email address. In my original post the email shown was from me.

I will contact support and see what may have changed.

Thanks Brandon, yeah, the "create a password" screen you posted an image of isn't what I'm seeing. Looks like a bug in the redirect or link in the email.

Thanks!

@Jake and Brandon. I just tried two different scenarios, and both seem to be working correctly for me:

- Add a sub-user who does not already have a Pogoplug acct set up

In this case, as a sub-user I received an email to access my new sub-acct. Clicking the Access it now link then took me to a page where I was able to choose a password. After confirming my new password, I was logged in. It sounds like this is what you guys are saying is not working for you.

- Add a sub-user who does already have a Pogoplug acct set up

In this case, as a sub-user I received an email to access my new sub-acct. Clicking the Access it now link then took me to the standard Pogoplug login page. This makes sense to me, since I already have a password on this already existing acct.

Are you guys sure that the email you used for a sub-acct was not already associated with a Pogoplug account whose password was already set up?

I sent the email to a user that used to have an account but was deleted so just to be sure I sent one to another account and received the same issue.
One of the problems that I see is that the email address, referring to who sent him the email, in the text is the new users email address not mine.

To test I will sent you up as a User Admin and you can check it from your end. Then we can take it to email.

I also have this issue but I've narrowed it down. If I add a custom URL to the UI setup, the new user would be directed to the Activate a Device screen as is the issue here.

If I leave that blank, then the user gets a new password request. This is definitely a bug in the system.
