Hello,

From last update the streaming to PS3 is back. Thanks for it.

Then I have an other problem : My external drive (LaCie 1To) do not spin down anymore.

I have the following settings :

- Stream to PS3 => Enable.

- Optimize playback => Never

- Media meta-data => Never

- Photo / video thumbail => Never

When I connect my drive, the media analysis appear for few second then is automaticaly stop so it seems ok.

I have closed all the media sharing I had. Even when both my computer and PS3 are off, my drive continue to spin up.

This is bad as it is both noisy and bad for the drive life expectancy. The only solution I found is to eject the drive from pogoplug web UI but then I have to manually restart it if I want the drive to connect back in pogoplug.

I sent this report to official support. They asked me to try disabling any software settings that came with my hard drive, especially anything power management related. The point is that I used my drive as a plug & play device.

Am I the only one having the problem ?

Anyone as an idea to solve it ?

Trantkat: you said previously that when streaming music to PS3 playback failed at precisely 2' 11" (see thread below) Is this now resolved if so how did you fix it?

Remember, its not what life does to you, but what you do with what life does to you, that matters.

Hello,

Sorry but I have no solution regarding music streaming to PS3. It is just something I do not use so often so it don't bother me to much.

How is it in your side ? Does your drive spin down normaly when you do not access data from your pogoplug ?

Hello,

Please file a support ticket describing as much about the drive as possible.

Thanks,

Hello,

As said in my first message, the ticket is already ongoing (ticket 16636)with official support.

Still, I seek for the community help as last message from official support is quite pessimiste on available solution :

"We have heard from users whose hard drives do spin down and from users whose hard drives don't spin down. I personally have a WD My Passport that spins down without issue.

If your drive continues to spin even after the media transcode/indexing operation is complete, there is likely an incompatibility with the dock and Pogoplug. At that point, the only option would be to use another dock/enclosure or let the drive spin."

I will continue discussion with official support. What bother me is that it used to work before firmware update and it doesn't anymore.

Ah, okay.

When the drive is connected to your PC, how long of an idle time does it take for the drive to spin down? Since the Pogoplug is running Linux, I'm looking at the following URL: http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/FAQ/SpinDownUSBHarddisks
The LaCie drive that we currently have in the office is the "rescue raft" looking one in my previous post. It never spins down, even when attached to a PC running Win7_64bit.

If we can figure out how to get this drive to spin down, it might apply to your drive as well.

Thanks for support.

I do not have time to make the test right now, I will do it on Monday and come back to you with detailed information.
