I LOVE the Pogoplug Pro and I'm going to learn it inside and out and use it daily.  It streams extremely well to my Droid and I see the doubling of the drive name is already listed as a future fix.  Well, a strange thing, how come there is no exit option? I can only exit by backing out to the Droid home screen and the app crashes at that point.  Pretty basic functionality missing.

I'd also like to see:

ability to slide a bar during a song to ff or rev.

If you click a song and the screen goes to the song playing page and you hit back and say it's an album folder...if you click the song again to go back, the song starts over even though it was still streaming when I went back.  I'd like for it to keep playing where it was.

The Droid app could use a few improvements but MP3s and MP4 movies work extremely well over Sprint 3G...I'm shocked how well. Listening to an album, it may delay 3-5 seconds between songs but then the whole song streams without interruption.

Of course on wifi it's even better.  Good job.

Hi MikeInVa
I have been using the Android app and my original pink pogoplug for a few months now and have had lots of problems with delays and freezing while streaming music @ 320kbps. I read on your post that you have had good success with the droid app so was wondering what bitrate your music was. Also is the Pogoplug Pro any different internally to the Pink PPlug?

Hi Rob,

My music is usually 256kbps but I have some 320kbps also. I have a pretty fast upload speed, I don't use wireless network connection (I have a cable running from the pogo plug to the router). I have a pretty fast phone on 3G and I have the latest Droid app. It streams perfectly over Sprint's 3G service. I'm not sure that the internal hardware is different but I would suspect that it might be updated as well as the software. The Droid app has some problems but once you are streaming, it's rock solid for me.

I personally would not link the plug to my wireless network wirelessly...just another level of complexity and problems that may arise. What if you were using 256bit encryption on your wireless network...wouldn't that slow things down and cause latency issues? Put the plog near the router and use an ethernet cable. I have 5mbps upload speed on my internet service, that helps.

I think this pogoplug pro is close to be the perfect solution I have always wanted...it's ambitious but it works pretty well. I even coded a 400mb video file in mp4 format h.264 v1 codec ("isom" shows up in the details). You can code this with Handbrake from handbrake.fr (a GREAT free open source video tool) and it streams fine on my cellphone over the cell network?! Unbelievable. I have a Samsung Galaxy Epic Droid phone and the video looks GREAT. Music and movies do not pause or break for buffering....runs smooth.
