For some reason it looks like you bought a Pogoplug someone has already setup and used.
You can return it for another but if you get it activated by Support @ Pogoplug you don't need to worry about someone else having access to it.
Send an email to support@pogoplug.com with the ID number of the plug from its label. They will also need some kind of proof of purchase. A copy of a reciept would be a start. If they need more they will let you know.

I purchased a pogoplug from a store in Glasgow, Scotland and on first setting up I was advised:-
'This Pogoplug enabled device has already been activated'
So what next? Have I been sold a returned pogoplug? Could this affect my data security? How do I set up?
To make matters worse, you cannot contract the help desk without an activation email and I can reach that bit on the set up wizard
I am also not very computer lierate and the adice from the'knowledge base' pages are unsuitable for amature computer users like myself
so keep it simple guys!
Thanks in Advance!

Hello Mistermark,
Did you get an solution to your problem. I've got exactly the same activation problem (bought a new Pogoplug and I can't activate it because it seems that it's already activated)

Support took care of the problem within a couple hours of opening a ticket. You may need to include a copy of your sales receipt with the ticket or other proof of ownership.

Hello mbeatty,
I don't understand because the unit that I've bought wasn't a used one (or the shop didn't tell me that it was a refurbished one).
But I've sent a proof of payement to the support. They have tried to unregister the last owner but they failed. Here is thelast answer I get from the support :
"Hi,
This is very strange.
There is something definitely wrong with this particular Pogoplug Pro.
I'm going to ask our partner's in the EU to proceed with an immediate Warranty Exchange. [...]
If you don't hear from them in a day or so, please reply to this mail.
Otherwise, without an update from either of us, this ticket will close in another day or so. Even after it closes, please feel free to contact Pogoplug in the future.
Kind Regards
Christopher"
I hope I'll hear from they as soon as possible.
