Sometimes this happens when there is an error on the drive somewhere that the Pogoplug cannot handle on its own. Disconnect the drive and run your disk repair utility of choice (Disk Utility on Mac, for example)
Then, reboot the Pogoplug and reconnect the drive. If that doesn't resolve your issue, you can contact Pogoplug official support.

We have been tossed around support on this issue and it's getting annoying. Not only that, I attached another drive to the pogo plug and THAT has been rendered read only. If they ask me what kind of drive I'm using again, I'm going to get really cross. This is the reason I gave up network and systems administration. ;-)
