What do you mean by "write to a drive" ?
Do you mean copy a file to the drive?
My setup may be different from yours but I copy, delete, move files all the time with the Windows drive app and don't have an issue.
The ceid info is used for showing thumbnails, video previews, etc. Maybe your issue is that you need to wait a bit before trying to access those files until the media has been processed.
This has happened many many times.
I tried to write to a drive attached to Pogoplug
and it cannot be accessed any more.
The ceid folder has been corrupted and I have to
hook it up as a local drive and erase it and connect it back to Pogoplug.
I can then access it from Pogoplug.
HEY GUYS, DO NOT write to the drive from the drive application.
Everyone, Please report if you have the same problem.
Pogoplug development team needs to address this,
or it may sink their product eventually.

Yes, I mean copy a file to the drive attached to Pogoplug using the
drive application. By the way, deleting the ceid folder was the method suggested by many users and Pogoplug in these forums. You can look for them.
I am not making some random complaints, i have tried many different kinds of
hard drives and it happens , not everytime i write to the drive, but it happens quite a bit, and i am just about to give up on Pogoplug. I had high hopes but this problem really bugs me.
I am just trying to see if other are having the same issue.
This post is not to make baseless accusations but to document the issue
so if this is a widesread problem, we need to get this fixed.
Many of us like to use the Pogoplug as a simple NAS for non techies.

I actually got the same problem as you. So I've got to restart the Plug and drives at least a couple of times a week to get write access. Seem all jolly when browsing and viewing files, but as soon as I'm about to start dumping files to the plug, it gets unresponsive. I'm om OSX. And I as you, have tried different drives and cables.

Am using windows 7 64bit and I have same problem, (very anoying) tried last night to add a folder using app and it just says admin privaledges needed but still will not let me copy from pc to pogo.
If I go online I can do it but that is crazy. It needs to be sorted asap.
