Thought I would put this in the forum before putting a support ticket in. I can't seem to copy files to the pogo drive outside my home LAN. I tried several days last week to move some files to the drive after installing the pogo software on my work computer. The files I want to move are larger in size (1 GB) so I tested other sizes and run into the same issues.

Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect.

This happens with a larger file all the way down to a very small text file. I am able to right click in the pogo drive and choose create new text file and it is created and saved, however once I edit the file and add any text to it I can't save it again and get the error above and the file is removed.

I am using Windows 7 x64 at work and a mix of Windows 7 32 and 64 at home. I can see all my existing files at work Any ideas? I am going to try and test copying a file locally from the pogo drive if I can get to a point where I can browse my files and the pogo drive doesn't lockup explorer. I am also attempting to upload a file through web UI so we'll see if that works or not...sitting at 0 :( I have more than ample bandwidth at work and fairly stable bandwidth at home so that even if its slow it should be doing something...but no joy so far.

DOH! Just wanted to quick update that I am able to upload through the web UI after clicking DUH...Upload! Upload speed is pretty decent but would still like the use of the pogo drive for file syncing.

Hello,

Can you upload through the web-interface at work?

Yes I can as I said in my second post. I have been uploading some files to my pogo via the web UI over the course of the day today. I uninstalled the pogo drive software today also as since I installed it last week I have had a few blue screens which is odd since my win 7 x64 install has been rock solid the last couple months and I haven't made any changes software wise recently other than the 64bit pogo drive software that doesn't seem to work. I may try reinstalling in a day or two after a few good reboots, I will also test on another machine here at work using the 32bit driver.

Sorry,

I didn't notice any indication of location(home or work) in your 2nd post.

If you see blue-screens, could you try it without having the "Automatically start Pogoplug Drive on login".

In the past, folks running into issues with DriveApp remote access find that a firewall rule and/or anti-virus software was blocking the DriveApp from completing its tasks. Please try temporarily disabling such programs and try the DriveApp again. If this solves the problem, then adding an exception to those softwares allowing the DriveApp(ppsync.exe and ppfs.exe) to function properly would be the best course of action.

Thanks,

Oh that was my bad, I didn't state I was at work in the second post. I am not using any local machine firewall rules. I will try reinstalling and disabling auto start, I will also disable my antivirus (AVG) and see what happens. Thanks for your time and support here on the forum. I will report back.

Alright I have tried a few things...the things you suggested specifically and it still isn't working. It seems like the plug drive app crashes often and I find it is no longer running even though I had started it. I've tried using SyncToy as well as RichCopy and I can't write a single file the pogo drive with either (or drag and drop as mentioned above). RoboCopy gives me the same error as when I try to copy with drag and drop: "The Parameter is Incorrect" It's odd, it actually does create some of the directories but no files are copied. I can browse the existing files with no issue so its not like the connection is being broken unless the plug drive app goes idle or something. It's being real sketchy and I'm trying to be a good sport...should I put in an official ticket?

Just to recap:
trying to copy files from non-local network
Windows 7 64bit
exceptions made in anti-virus

EDIT/Additional info: I can download existing files from the plug drive (at least the small ones I've tried) with absolutely no issue at all.

I guess I will put in a ticket for this issue.

Have you tried using the "upload" feature on the web app at my.pogoplug.com? From your initial post I believe you said you are failing when using drag and drop to the desktop drive app.

Remember, its not what life does to you, but what you do with what life does to you, that matters.

Yes I can upload via the web app as I stated a few times in my previous posts ;) As it stands right now I can't upload files without getting that Parameter is incorrect error messsage when using the pogo drive app, I can however create directories which is weird. All of the details and things I have tried are in the posts above. I also put a ticket in this morning.

Hi, I have a brand new pogoplug and full read write access to the hard drives connected to it. I am able to upload files using the web browser (I am using firefox).I can also download and delete rename and preview files via the browser. All is good.

I have the pogoplug application installed version 2,12 and have a mounted shared drive P on my "my computer". I can open that shared drive and open sub folders etc. I can create new folders. I can select a file and copy and then select my desktop or local drive on my netbook and paste the file, I can drag a file from that shared drive to my desktop and it is copied within seconds.

I am unable to select a file on my local hard drive or desktop and select copy and then navigate to the shared mounted drive P and paste the file to the many folders I have read, write, upload and download access to via the web as mentioned above.

A window opens and states that the file is being copied to the new location on the remote shared drives but after a few minutes I get the error: 0x80070057: the parameter is incorrect.

I am running windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on my netbook and accessing the remote connected drives via mobile broadband.

Is there a fix to enable drag and drop or copy and paste direct or am i forced to use the web browser to do my uploads.

The hard drives connected to the pogoplug are formatted NTFS though when I select properties on my netbook it states fat32. My files are not corrupted or encrypted. I have the issue with exe files, audio files, text files, graphic files, any size from 4k to 3mb. Obviously using mobile broadband I am not in a position to be uploading large files at this time.

The hard drives connected are both small ie 320GB and 500GB. Although when I view the shared drive on my local machine it states that I have 2TB free on a 4TB drive, rather strange as I have nothing close to that amount of storage connected to the pogoplug. I am just setting things up and testing things before I proceed and attach a single larger 2TB drive.

Rather inconvenient as the attached drives will be in the UK at my friends house and I plan to access it from my home in Nairobi Kenya.

I am currently in the UK. My service provider is T Mobile and the pogoplug is connected to a router on a permanent 20mb connection via isle of wight cable. I believe it is a fibre connection.

I believe I have covered most things, if you need any further details please ask.

I think I may have figured out this issue, at least in my case...but not before my pogoplug bricked itself. I think it is due to the internet service provider blocking all or some of the ports that the pogoplug needs to use. I determined that my provider only has a small window of ports open and available for use. You will probably need to find out what ports are not blocked by the ISP and then configure port forwarding in the router. I would test this but I have to send my unit back..

thank you for the response, its an answer that I have not seen posted on the forum as this issue has been mentioned in one thread or another for some time. I will look into the issue when I am next at the pogoplug location, as I have a good friend who is letting me use his service provider to access my remote files when i go abroad. Maybe I can also figure out a way to force download links on large files I click on go direct to the shared drive and not pass the data stream via my connection, that would be cool. On a plus side his service provider office is a 3 minute walk from my current location. I can see them in the flesh. Give their tech guys something to ponder. Hope the replacement works when it returns.

If anyone get's a confirmed answer to this I'd like to hear it. My drive also says 2TB out of 4TB. In my case, my question will later become: what happens when I have more than 4TB of stuff?

Have to Second the Motion...

I am having the EXACT same issues as TekWarren... I can copy fine using the web interface AND the windows interface on the local LAN. As soon as I am remote using the Windows interface and try to copy I receive the message "Error: 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect" after approximately 1 minute of attempting to copy. ANY HELP would cetainly be appreciated. I had my tech guy also make certain that service.pogoplug.com port 4365 is open too.

Thanks Dan

Probl?me indentique.
Merci.

April 14, 2011 12:49 PM

owen said: tried to uninstall & reinstall it again? it helps for most cases

what do you think i did ?

I open a ticket with pogoplug support. i'll let you know cause there's some new problem with the new updateCry

April 15, 2011 9:24 AM
