I dumped a number of jpeg images into a folder on my Pogoplug and when I look at them using a browser not all of them show thumbnail images.  Is there some condition that keeps thumbnails from being displayed?

Yes , you have to go to media setting and enable make thumbnails for photos

My media setting were already set to enable thumbnails "as soon
as possible". Any other ideas?

Hmm weird one maybe try putting them in a folder called photos and then disable and re-enable thumbnail view . It's important that you press apply changes aswell in media settings.

So create a folder called photos , dump photos in here

Then disable thumbnail generation in media settings , apply changes

Then enable thumbnail generation in media settings and apply changes

Changing the enable thumbnail setting didn't seem to make any difference.
However, I clicked the "re-scan" Pogoplug item and that seemed to get
the thumbnails generated. Any ideas why that would work?

Maybe it needed to refresh itself , that's all I can think off
