Oh Lord, how long must we wait????

There is a lot of Pogoplug users that are using it as a media device for the PS3 and Xbox, you think that they would issue a fix ASAP;  the 2.5.3 firmware has disabled this feature and have it scanning my harddrives constantly such that I have had to disable the harddrive from my pogoplug and reattach when I need the service of the Pogoplug.

For users not using the Pogoplug as a media server, do they know this problem exists?  The pogoplug is scanning the harddrive consistantly in the background, causing a premature death of the harddrive.  It is one thing that Upnp does not work, it is another thing that it is spinning the harddrive 24/7 for the past week.

There is a firmware fix that has been rolling out to users that fixes this problem specifically; many Pogoplug owners have already received the update. Keep your eyes open for a new version, you should be getting it soo. If you continue to have problems after that, you can contact Pogoplug official support!

Is there any offical annoncement, or statement from cloud of this? I'm also kinda irretated about this and whant the fix as soon as possible.

There will probably be release notes or a changelog posted on the official website. Please be patient with the folks there - they always want to make sure that the firmware rollouts go smoothly and it does take time for all Pogoplug users to get updated.

As somebody that reported the problem to Pogoplug, it's irritating that they haven't bothered to let me know a fix is being rolled out. I have lost a lot of faith in the company over this issue.

is there a way to force a firmware update? I'm still on 2.5.3

October 12, 2010 9:19 AM

Dunno If anyone got 2.5.4 , I sure haven't

October 12, 2010 9:24 AM

I just checked, and I'm still on 2.5.3.

October 12, 2010 5:18 PM

I'm still at 2.5.3 according to my general settings at mypogoplug.com; again, how long do we have to wait???

October 12, 2010 8:35 PM

I am on 2.5.4 as of right now.

October 12, 2010 10:01 PM

I can only dream of my pogoplug working again; still waiting...

October 13, 2010 8:18 AM

I woke up this morning and rushed to my computer and logged into mypogoplug.com and found.... ...still 2.5.3

October 13, 2010 8:52 AM

im still on 2.1.2...

Well now I look at it closer, it's showing 2.5.3 on one section of the site (general) and 2.5.4 for two others, (UI and service)

That's not confusing ;)  So what firmware version is this???

October 13, 2010 9:05 AM

Firmware version is the one listed after device, so yours should be 2.5.3 then.

October 13, 2010 10:08 PM

Any success yet for anyone? Getting pretty frustrated here.

October 13, 2010 10:28 PM

I am starting to wonder if anyone has had the update yet? Day Three is finishing and still no update; are they sending the update by snail-mail? do we need to wait 6 to 8 weeks for delivery?

October 14, 2010 1:46 AM

I really don't know, Ive seen a few claiming they got 2.5.4, and about atleast half of them later siad they looked at the ui version.

I still haven't seen a official statement that the 2.5.4 patch even exists yet. I hope I'm not wrong but Peter you're only a forum mod right?

October 14, 2010 3:43 AM

I'm still at firmware v2.5.3 (device) with Service and UI at 2.5.4

I've own a pink pogoplug for two months and due to a series of issues have never had the confidence to use it for anything important. This has lots of potential but it has been a very disappointing ownership experience.

Lets hope better days lie ahead!

i wouldnt mind getting an update to 2.5.3. i check every day and still stuck on the old 2.1.2.

willieboy: i have been using mine for important data for about 6 months now and its working great. i was nervous at first and have 2 drives on it with active copy incase anything happened to the first drive i could get my data back, but no problems. i also back up my REALLY important data to usb thumb drives attached to it since they have no moving parts and should last longer than a standard hdd.

In truth, I'm don't have a pressing need to use the pogoplug in earnest as I also own a Netgear ReadyNAS which is rock solid. It provides all my streaming needs and allows remote access.

Has anyone heard of when the new firmware will be pushed to the Seagate DockStar?

October 14, 2010 11:38 AM

Well I have been updated to the U.I. and Service Version: 2.5.4

However, my pogoplug device is listed at 2.5.3

Is this what you all are experiencing?

I'm still not able to stream to my PS3.

have you checked your settings under my.pogoplug.com?  click settings at the top right of the screen, then go to media settings, and in the drop down select the drive you want to stream from, then where it says Stream photos, videos and music to your PS3, XBox360 and FreeAgent Theater, select enable from the drop down and then click the apply below changes button.  that should work.  i have older firmware than you and i can stream to my ps3 perfectly.  after you do that, boot up your ps3 and under your videos, music, and pictures you should have a pogoplug symbol showing.

October 14, 2010 12:45 PM

Paladin, it's broken in 2.5.3. Since 2.5.4 has not been pushed yet it's going to remain broken till (hopefully) the firmware update comes out. It worked in the older firmware versions.

October 14, 2010 1:18 PM

Then there is a point I dont get : Why is pogoplug pushing the update ?

I mean if the fix does exist (or why not the previous working firmware), why don't they upload it on a server so the community can simply download and install it ?

I feel like I am waiting for the national lotery jackpot here...
