I believe I have found a bug...

I use the Western Digital My Book Home Edition External 1TB Hard Drive (http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=111〈=en).  This drive has three (3) interface connections available -- USB 2.0, Firewire 400 and eSATA.

I use the eSATA connection.  When I try to connect the My Book External HD to my PC via eSATA while simultaneously connecting my PogoPlug via USB 2.0 to that same drive, PogoPlug does NOT work.  I get the "no drive detected" message at http://my.pogoplug.com/view.html.

When I disable the eSATA connection, PogoPlug detects the drive and works fine.

Please correct this oversight with a firmware update or explain how I can get PogoPlug to work while still using my eSATA connection.  I am using Windows 7 64-bit and a Linksys WRT54-G Broadband Router version 6.

Thank you!

Does the Western Digital My Book Home Edition External 1TB Hard Drive permit the use of two simultaneous connection interfaces? Perhaps you can use only one of the three interfaces at any time?

If so there is no bug in pogoplug firmware. Has anyone else tried to connect two interfaces at once?

Remember, its not what life does to you, but what you do with what life does to you, that matters.

I'm going to say willieboy is on track here. I don't know of many (any) external devices that allow you to use both host controllers at once such as eSATA and USB. It's either one or the other. You can verify this by testing both connections plugged into two different computers at the same time. Or consult the documentation for the external hard drive, I'd bet it doesn't specify that you can use both interfaces at once.
