After some fiddling around after initially setting up my pogoplug I had it working relatively well with my PS3. I even managed to install samba and had nice little pink magic box in the corner of my living room. The other morning I noticed the shares were down, strange I thought - maybe there was a momentary power cut during the night and pogoplug restarted.

In fact then I tried to connect to the pogoplug from my PS3 and nothing would play. After logging into the pogoplug I noticed a few new messages and at that point it became clear that there had been an upgrade.

The firmware was now at 2.5.3

Any attempt to access files from my PS3 produced "data corrupted" or "unsupported media" or even dnla error messages.

Also the the smb shares have become incredibly slow and some folders show that they contain no files (even though I know that they do). I could see the blue light on my Western Digital My Book drives blinking away - clearly trying to read the files - but something about the the actual pogoplug is seriously ill after this upgrade.

Another symptom is that inside the Media Settings section it shows that files are being "processed" even though in order for it to work on the PS3 I have to tell the pogoplug to "never" process my files.

There is just too much "black box" stuff going on here for my liking - I was willing to ignore it and happy to jump through the slightly bizzare hoops to get my files shared to my PS3 - but this "black box" nature of the pogoplug has now left me with an unsable lump of pink in the corner of my living room.. . .

Is anyone with a PS3 and a Pogoplug running firmware 2.5.3 having a good experience ?Is it only me and maybe a handful of people who are having this bad experience ?

Or can anyone post the firmaware for 2.10 with some hints on how to downgrade ?

Nobody is able to stream media to their PS3 since the firmware 2.5.3 upgrade.

Awaiting minor upgrade of firmware.

My PS3 is stating the same message: "data corrupt" when trying to play videos from my Pogoplug. Videos played from my Imac to my PS3 work well; videos from my Pogoplug to my Imac work well; but Videos from my Pogoplug to PS3 is dead. I am glad to see that I am not alone and hopefully Pogoplug will release a fix soon!

The updated firmware to resolve this issue is being rolled out to users as we speak.

Waiting patiently!

Day 11, I don't know how much more patient we can be!!

i still haven't gotten the new firmware to fix the ps3 streaming issue. has anyone gotten it yet?

October 18, 2010 4:34 PM

The MAIN reason I bought this is to be able to stream family video and photos throughout the house to the two PS3s and bigscreens we have. The PS3 Media Server I have been using works great but requires the computer to always be on...I was hoping the Pogo would solve that problem... but now, sfter reading about this problem I am not sure.

With the PS3 Media Server that I have been using my HD video streams with no problem... will the Pogoplug do the same IF it starts working?? And, will the PS3 recognize the Pogoplug automatically each time the PS3 is started up, or must it be searched for? If you know the answer to this will you let me know here?

Thanks.

standard definition videos work well over wifi. For High definition, I use the ethernet connections for PS3 and Pogoplug, and it works well. If pogoplug is on and set up as media server (using mypogoplug.com), the PS3 will see it on startup. If the PS3 is on and the pogoplug is turned on afterwards, I have to search for media servers on the PS3 Video column, and 30 seconds later it works (or use to work until firmware 2.5.3, hopefully the fix is in the works)

Still transcoding ... how long do we have to wait ... this sucks!!!!!

October 18, 2010 9:33 PM

Honestly, I don't know how long we're going to have to wait for an update supposedly rolling out via computer. Seems that about 15 days is a little long. Maybe it's coming by pack mule. I better look out the window and see. It might be waiting for me....

@Vertigo - :D

If you see the Mule can tell it to hurry up ! I'm still waiting too.

Well, hell froze over and I have 2.5.6 update... I will test it and let you know if the fix is in!

October 19, 2010 7:05 PM

Well, so far it now sees my media but for videos, it only plays the first 10 seconds. I hoping it is a settings issue; I'll have to investigate. I noticed that after the update it started to rescan my harddrives (being a couple of terabytes this may take the full week, before I am able to safely state whether this is the long awaited fix or not.

Okay, all I really want this pogo thing for is to stream photos and video from a hard drive to my PS3.... will it do that or not?... period. I don't need any conversion or anything else... just let my PS3 see the stuff and it will work from there.

Fellas, I just updated to 2.5.6 firmware by ejecting my hdd, power off/on pogoplug, look in my.pogoplug general settings and formware now 2.5.6! Enabled the hdd under Media Settings, searched for media servers in my PS3 and found the pogoplug and movie files. Plays just as it should do!!
