I have implemented adequate backup provision for Windows OS and am aware of sync software recommendations from forum users. However, most of my computing use now is using Linux Mint.

Can forum members, who are experienced Linux users, please advise what they recommend to backup and/or sync networked linux computers data to pogoplug?

As I am a relative linux nubie (but determined) I may need a verbose response!

Thank you for your assistance.

I just tried Synchrorep on Ubuntu Lucid, and it works fine. After installing synchrorep a right mouseclick function is added when hovering over a folder. If you mount Pogoplug using the desktop application, you can then open to the usb drive -> right click to synchronize -> and a dialogue box opens asking with which folder, default settings sync, and made-up name for group which is what they call a sync process. In the future if pogoplug is mounted, you can go to applications ->system tools -> synchronize a group select the group you created and sync.

Using the other tools I tried, I was not able to locate, and therefore select the pogoplug drive using the browse to configure a sync. It does not appear under /media. The synchrorep method of clicking on the folder in nautilus circumvents this problem. I was able to use synchrorep to sync with an xp machine in the past, so maybe this solves some of your problems.

don54321, thank you for this information. I shall check Synchrorep out shortly, although it's not available in the Mint repositories.
