Got my pogoplug. It's not detecting the drive. I have the IoSafe Solo 2TB Fireproof and Waterproof External drive.

What should I do?

Thanks for any help in advance,

Craig

First, I would try several basic troubleshooting steps. Occasionally, on first plug in, your drive might not be detected.

1. Unplug the drive completely (power cycle) and plug back into the Pogoplug
2. Reboot the Pogoplug and plug the drive back in
3. Run a disk check on the attached drive
4. Back up the data on the external HDD, re-format it, and copy the data back to it before plugging into Pogoplug

Step 3 is probably the most likely culprit - it's possible that there is some kind of file system error or corruption somewhere on the drive that the Pogoplug can't correct, and it's hanging. This will often fix the issue, whether you're on a Mac or PC.

If all else fails, you can contact Pogoplug support, but I'm guessing that one of the steps above will do the trick! Let us know how it works for you.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I will try what you said. This drive is brand new out of the box so there is no data on it yet. Also, I've attached the wireless adapter and noticed I still have the 2.1.2 firmware. Would this be contributing to the drive not being detected?

No - on any version of the firmware, it should be detecting your drive without issues.

Do you know how (or if) the drive came formatted out of the box? The first thing I would try is a clean format, either NTFS if you're on Windows or HFS+ Journaled if you're on Mac.

Hiya, I'm having the same trouble here. Pogoplug is detecting only one of our drives but we have 2 attached to the Pogoplug.

You mentioned in your post to "Run a disk check on the attached drive". How do I do that? I'm running Windows7.

Thanks.

Did you do a reload off the start up Pogoplug Icon?

Reload off the startup Pogoplug icon? Yes.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Strange, the hard drive was being detected previously. We didn't use Pogoplug for a day or two and the second hard drive dropped off.

This seems to be a common theme of the Pogoplug... Mine does the same, the drive randomly disapears and has to be restarted befre it becomes avaliable again.
