hey everyone

sorry for posting this noob question, but even with search, I couldnt find an answer so far in the forum.

as a pogoplug 'virgin' - that is eagerly waiting for my brand new pogoplug getting here, I want to beef up a bit on the storage front, to make good use of this neat thing!

now I am considering buying a WD My Book Essential 2TB drive, but wondering if this will work just fine out of the box along with pogoplug? my research did bring up some posts mentioning problems with the 1TB drive, but not going into much detail.

therefore I just want to make sure I dont spend money on a drive that will not tag along in a nice way ... might it be that the eco feature of spinning down might be giving me future headaches? anyone want to throw in his two cents, it would go greatly appreciated!

thanx in advance

c.

I have that drive. The only issue I had was that the pre-installed backup software doesnt work with the pogo. You can erase the software and use it as a regular drive (WD has utilities on their website to accomplish this) but you would have to use another backup strategy if thats part of your intention. I used it for a while in that configuration without any problem but eventually decided to connect it directly to the computer so that I can use Windows 7 backup which also doesnt see pogo connected drives. I now have a Maxtor drive attached to the pogo.

thanx for the reply, Brett, now I already got the extra drive at home, and also got rid of that pre-installed smartware ... now only 24 hours to wait till Pogoplug makes a grand entrance, yeeehaaa
