How can I access my PogoPlug drive after the PC hibernates, without having to reboot the PC? I have tried running the softare but no luck.

I have had luck right clicking on the pogoplug icon in the task bar and selecting "reload".....

I'm running XP and the taskbar icon disappeared so I couldn't right-click on it. I just now uninstalled and re-installed the pogoplug software and the icon is back.... we'll see if it stays in the taskbar and if I can hibernate and reload like you suggest. Thanks.

It's really annoying though. My Sync Software always believes that my files have been deleted on my pogoplug (since the drive is no longer available) and starts deleting files locally, too. Please write the support and tell them that we need a fix to that problem.

I tried re-installing the software, it worked for a while but a couple boots later, it was gone again. That makes it impossible to depend on being able to reload" as needed. Software not yet ready for prime-time.... doesn't repeat. As far as syncing, maybe try "briefcase" and let Windows maintain the sync.... just a thought.

Here is a perfect argument for implementing Samba on the Pogoplug. Drives that are mapped using Windows stay mapped after waking up from Standby. I have a Dockstar and a Pogoplug. The Dockstar has built-in Samba and my drives are always available again when the PC wakes up. I map the drives using the "net use" command to map the drives and to my knowledge the drives are always available.

Why can't the Pogoplug implement Samba like the Dockstar? I know you can add Samba using third-party apps, but I doubt that Pogoplug will provide any support if the device would become "bricked".

Sorry for ranting on this, but built-in Samba support on the Pogoplug is the highest on my list of features to be added and this would be a solution for a problem like this.

Can't you change the 'rules' in your backup/synch programme to overcome this? either to ignore completely the Pogodrive or only make changes TO it ?.

Well I switched to PureSync (a little bit better than AllwaySync) and checked the option to ask me before deleting files. In addition I have to reenter my username and password in Windows app pretty often, veeery annoying.

Since up and downloading files are an essential function of Pogoplug I'd really like to see some improvements. Pogoplug support couldn't tell me whether they are planning to update the Windows app.

I use Syncback. I tried many before settling on this one, it's very flexible and it's FREE (my favourite word). My backup drive is set to sync with my main drive but NOT vice versa.

www.2brightsparks.com will find it if you're interested.

I just wonder whether Synback also deletes folders?

It's fully flexible, you can instruct it to do what you want. I use mine to synch FROM my main drive TO my backup but NOT vice versa. This way the backup drive is always a mirror of my main drive.

It will only delete folders on the backup drive if they are first removed from the main drive.

If the backup is accessed (via pogo?) and files/folders accidentally deleted, then these files/folders will be re-instated when the Syncback programme is next run.
