Dunno whether others have had this problem, but here goes (got a stock reply and entirely unhelpful suggestion from pogoplug support).

As I type this, the login window at https://my.pogoplug.com/view.html (in another Firefox browser tab) is endlessly reloading over and over and over and over and.. well, you get the idea.

If I now stop the page action, flush all cookies, and re-login, the page goes blank and ends at the URL https://my.pogoplug.com/index.html#logout. />
I just fired up IE 7 and get the same cycling behavior. With either browser, CPU loading goes way up and the CPU cooling fan cranks, suggesting some kind of endless loop at a low level.

But just to make things annoying, the reload cycling is inconsistent. It may be related to the order in which I use the Pogoplug Drive application vs. the web interface.

So I still cannot access my pogoplug thru the web interface. I am this close to returning it to Amazon for a refund, as it seems not ready for prime time.

Running XP 2002 SP3, Firefox 3.6.8, IE 7.whatever

Update: My initial attempt to resolve this problem via Pogoplug Support ended in ticket #14358 being summarily closed by "Ray". No reply addressing the actual symptoms or malfunction was given.

The behavior you are experiencing with the web client is definitely not normal - actually, it's the first time I've seen it reported here. I just checked the web client and it's working fine, so I'm guessing it's something very unusual happening on your end.

Try running a program like CCleaner to clean all browser caches, do a reboot, and try the web client again. If that doesn't work, then I'd contact Pogoplug support directly to have them investigate.

Hi Peter-

Ran the cccleaner flush, removed and reinstalled the local app via ppdrive_win32_2_1_2.msi. Disabled all Firefox security plugins that might intercept cookies, popups, ads etc.

But still no change in browser reload-cycling behavior in either FF or IE7. Does the web app use Java? I've got FF addons for 6.0.04/05/07/11 active; don't remember installing them, must be automated. But what's the excuse for IE acting so similarly?

I should note that I am running Norton Security in the background. Also I get internet through a Motorola Wimax modem accessing the Clearwire wireless service here in Seattle. I wonder whether there are others using a similar setup... There is firewalling active on several levels here, but I haven't run across a FAQ with recommendations on anything that might be pertinent.

Meanwhile I got on Amazon and one-starred Pogoplug with a description of this problem and how Pogoplug tech support have handled matters to date. If PP want to ramp up resources to find a solution I'll be glad to delete or amend the poor review...

Thanks for the suggestion--guess I'll beat on it for another day or two before returning the PP for a refund.

Okay, just tried login w/ the neighbor's wifi, taking my ISP out of the chain. No difference in endless looping. Problem is definitely local...

After trying to log into my.pogoplug.com open a new tab and enter, https://my.pogoplug.com/settings.html . Check all your setting and save. Then log out and try logging back in. I had the same problem and was told by support to do it and it worked.

Actually, I reported this issue in July, but unfortunately no one had any clues about it.  Overall, operation and development of the Pogoplug remains in something of a beta stage; lot of quirks, but I've just been working around the issues as necessary and getting some use out of it.

Mr Glass' suggestion seems to do the trick... at first. I opened https://my.pogoplug.com/settings.html which, maybe due to some cookie somewhere, did not ask for a login. I walk thru the settings, maybe tick and untick a box or two, and sign out.

But when I closed the browser and tried again at https://my.pogoplug.com/ entering email and PW just takes me back to the same page unchanged. No more looping, but nothing else either. so sometimes I'm able to bring up the web access portal, sometimes not.

The biggie here is that the web portal login seems consistently to work only if the Full SSL security option is ticked--and without a direct link to that page, there's no way to set the dang thing in the first place!

This is stoopid because w/ SSL full on then even local access must be funnelled thru pogoplug's servers. There is evidently some unpleasant interaction between cookies and security settings that makes access unstable and quirky.

From my experience Support has been very good! I've not had any problems with PogoPlug until I added the PogoPlug Biz but the problems I submitted to support were addressed in a prompt manner.

That said, this problem is not a cookie problem as it happened to me on all 6 of my computers and with IE8 & 9 Beta, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and even the Bolt Browser on my Windows Mobile Phone. I gave support my login and PW and they had the same experience.

I do wish there were some type of user's manual for the PogoPlug & Biz for those of us that are not "GEEKS". Documentation is sorely lacking.

Just for giggles, and to get around any potential cookie issues, try this address:

https://dockstar.pogoplug.com/

It's the Seagate Dockstar interface, should still work for you.

After logging in and unchecking the SSL security option, I logout & clear all firefox PP cookies. Next I get these symptoms:

https://dockstar.pogoplug.com/
tries to load, dumps back to https://dockstar.pogoplug.com/index.html#logout

https://my.pogoplug.com/
goes into endless loop

Now I sneak in thru the back door to https://my.pogoplug.com/settings.html check the SSL box, log out, and try again:

https://dockstar.pogoplug.com/
logs in correctly; sign out, then

https://my.pogoplug.com/
also logs in correctly--no endless loop.

So evidently the workaround for me is to ensure that the SSL box is checked, slowing throughput, unnecessarily increasing traffic, and subjecting all data, even local transfers, to the tender mercies of PP's servers. This ain't what I signed up for, and a severe, unadvertised downside.
