Hi,

The pogoplug was so easy to set up, especially the download for viewing pogoplug in desktop view on my pc. I have a 1TB Toshiba external hard drive connected to the pogoplug with all my files on, including excel and word. However, when I try and connect to it on my netbook, I can only view files, I can't edit them. I have a Toshiba NB200 netbook running windows 7 32 bit professional, with a CPU N280 processor. When I download the desktop view software it wont install saying that it isn't supported for my processor. Is there a version for netbooks, or am I doing something wrong? Ideally I'd like to view the hard drive via pogoplug as in desktop explorer view like on my pc.

Any help anyone can give would be great

I just checked my Advent 4211 Netbook which has a N270 CPU @ 1.60Ghz with Win XP OS.

Using the pogoplug drive app I can browse the pogoplug and open documents in Word and Excel 2007 for editing without problems.

Perhaps you might try uninstalling the drive app and reinstalling. Re-download the program file for the fresh install in case it is corrupted and make sure all other programs are closed.

Opening these documents in the web app allows view only but of course you could download the documents to your netbook and open in Word/Excel to do some editing.

Good luck!

Hey Willieboy,

Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately, I can't install the drive app in the first place, let alone uninstall it and re-install it. When I try and run it it says " This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor." I wonder what version you installed on your netbook, I am using the most recent one version 2.1.2.

The files I wish to edit on the move are updated regularly and I was hoping to have one copy accessed and updated from anywhere, the idea of 2 or more of the same file and having to remember which one is most recent is a headache that I want to avoid.

It works fine on my PC which is connected to the router and hard drive via wifi, so I can't see why I can't do from any other machine as well - any more suggestions you can come up with would be most welcome, esp which software version you used to get yours to work.

Thanks,

MD

Hi MD,

My desktop drive app is also version 2.1.2. Can't think of anything else at present!

Have you raised a support request with CloudEngines? I've found them very helpful. I think you need expert help.

I have A Toshiba NB305 w/Windows 7 Ultimate and it supports PogoPlug just fine.

I have Both a PogoPlug and PogoPlug Biz connected!!

Opening screen size is a slight problem because the "X" is hidden. But all you have to do to minimize it is fo to the Taskbar and select Close Window.

What processor is in your NB305 Stephen?

My Toshiba NB305 has an Atom N450 but I had an Acer Netbook with the N280 and it worked fine on that too. You might trying to do a System Restore to a point just before you tried installing the PogoPlug Desktop application, download the app agsin to make sure it's not corrupt, and try reinstalling.
I have 6 computer's here and all installed the desktop application without a problem.

Thanks Stephen, tried that but to no avail. I also installed it on another NB200 running a N270 processor and got the exact same message- this installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact you product vendor. It sounds to me like the software clashes with the processor, maybe you used a different version of the desktop app software or what I don't know. Anyways,I have emailed Cloud Engine and am awaiting a reply which I'll post on here.

I can't imagine any Windows 7 based computer that's incapable of running the PogoPlug application. Email me directly at satman@yorkies.com and I'll return your email with an earlier version of the PogoPlug Application. If that installs it will automatically update to the current one.

Actually, you can download the older version from
