Is there a way to back up one hard disk to another via the Pogoplug?

So, I attach two 500Gb hard disks to my Pogoplug and one I want to use as my datastore with the other as my backup. Is there some piece of software that I can have running on a windows PC that can back up the data from one disk to the other?

If both hard disks are attached to your pogoplug then you can use the "Active Copy" facility on the pogoplug web app to copy any changes on one to the other automatically. You will find Active Copy listed on the lefthand side of the web app. Look here ...

Active Copy, like willieboy said, is really perfect for what you're looking to do. Note also that you can copy from one Pogoplug to another, so if you wanted to copy files from one Pogoplug connected drive in your home to another drive, connected to another Pogoplug (say in your office) you can do that as well.

Thanks for the replies, that all sounds good but just one more question.

If I have a directory structure on the disk I want to back up do I have to create the same structure on the back up disk or will this be created as part of the Active Copy or Web Active Copy process?

look online for a program called FBackup4. It's free and fairly simple to setup. You can create a schedule to make incremental backups for you

active copy, from the looks of it, is a one way copy from drive A to drive B, will it cause any problems then also setting up an active copy from B to A? that way all drives stay in sync no matter which drive you make changes to? i dont want to cause an endless loop or anything by doing that.

I'm assuming if I want to do offsite backups from my office to my home, I need one pogoplug and drive at home and another at the office. Is that correct or can I get by with just the home setup?

TIA

if you want to do offisite, you have to have a pogoplug at each site. i have one at my house and another at my parents house backing up all my data offsite that way. works great, they both show up in your my.pogoplug.com and can set active copy from one pogoplug to the other. really easy.

In theory you should be able to use the pogoplug drive application on computer outside you local LAN. For example you install it on a work computer and should be able to backup files to your pogo storage at home. -It is not working for me however I can't write files to the pogo drive app from work even though I can see all my files and download them.
