Here too. Looks like the Webpage was updated in anticipation of everyone getting their firmware upgraded but you, like many of us, have not yet recieved the update. Look at what it says next to the device name under settings --> general. Its probably still says "device 2.1.2" and not yet 2.5 even though the UI version is 2.5.0
Looks like some more waiting....
Why is Enable printer discovery for greyed out ?
I also have the same here in UK. Device is still 2.1.2, UI is 2.5.0 and Service is 2.5.0
Hopefully will be updated soon.
Yep, I've seen several notices from Pogoplug that the update is still rolling out. Hang tight, it should hit soon for most users. You can also contact Pogoplug support if you need help.
Same problem with a disabled, "Enable printer discovery." Glad I found this thread to save hours of my time. It would have been nice, though, for Pogoplug to announce this problem explicitly.
This morning my device is still 2.1.2 but I see UI and Service is now updated to 2.5.1 from 2.5.0. Maybe we are seeing some progress in fixing the printer problem.
Same with myself, it needs the firmware 2.5 upgrade.
as mentioned by Peter (Admin) in another thread that many people already have the firmware upgrade and its free of charge this time round.
How does the Pogoplug handle when
The printer is out of paper
The printer is out of ink
The printer is jammed.
does it inform the user of the dtails of the Printer Status,
this would be so usefull in where a few users are sharing the printer.
Now we're November and my Dockstar device is still 2.1.2. I see no further comments here... mhmm

Not sure what comment you are looking for. The Dockstar is a Seagate product that uses PogoPlug technology. If the Dockstars are to be updated, it is a Seagate decision but, as I'm sure you are aware, Seagate obviously did a poor job of supporting this product and treat it like the "Red haired step-child".
Frankly, I think that the folks at CEi have been very gracious in the level of support that they provide for us Dockstar owners, especially when you consider that must Dockstar's were purchased at extremely discounted prices.
Having said that, my Dockstar works great on 2.1.2 and moving to the updated version may be a case of "Be careful of what you ask for, you might just get it!" Both printer support and wireless connections are dubious features at best, and probably not worth the potential risks that have been reported with the update.

According to my contact with Pogoplug support it is Seagate that is holding up the firmware upgrades for the Dockstar. After 3 attempts to contact Seagate support about the firmware upgrade it appears that no one there knows what's going on. My Dockstar is working great and I have had no issues since I installed it almost a year ago. My only interest in the new firmware is the support for printers. I have been told that the wireless adapter will not work on the Dockstar but I really don't have a need for that anyway. The reason for keeping these Dockstar threads alive is to remind Pogoplug and Seagate that we are still waiting patiently.
It's also a good idea to remind folks like x-15a2 that Dockstars were not slapped with a "no support after purchase" sticker. In fact, some owners have purchased the unit prior to any "extremely discounted prices".
I also suggest that Pogoplug evaluate firmware upgrade support independent of Seagate: perhaps a yearly firmware update subscription of $5 - $10?
Lastly, other than a Pogoplug tech enunciating the situation one-on-one with me, I did not find a statement by Pogoplug on this issue.

I don't need the reminder, thanks. While it's true that "some" owners may have purchased before the discounts, most (many) got them at extremely discounted prices (I got mine for $19.99 from Woot.com) so we simply shouldn't expect a high level of support, and I don't.

While that's a good suggestion, you need to remember that none of us know what the legally binding agreement between CEi and Seagate is. CEi is obviously technically capable of pushing the updates to the Dockstars, but they may not be legally permitted to do so.

@ x-15a2
* It's nice that YOU didn't expect support. I think we all got that with your 1st post. It's ALL about only YOU, isn't it? Also, where do you get your sales stats concerning who bought it at a discounted price and who didn't?
* I quote myself: "Pogoplug EVALUATE firmware upgrade", so really, there's nothing for me to "need to remember". My suggestion stands perfectly well as is, and certainly better w/o your obvious need to weaken it.
Hey folks - starting to see this thread spiral into bickering. Let's try to keep the thread on track and constructive. Several folks have posted with responses they received from the team at Cloud Engines, who I'm 100% sure is aware of the issues and is working to correct them.
