Hi

I would like to have all my work and personal files at home on my home network for quick access, and also have them all in work on that network for quick access. So in effect duplicate copies of all my files at home and office. So it has to SYNC not Backup/Copy.This then also means I have a backup system.

So I wondered what is the best solution for this using Pogoplug. I thought maybe Pogoplug at home with a work and personal hard drives attached, then in work setup Pogoplug Drive, then use Syncing software to sync my work drives to the Pogoplug drives? But then I have to always have a computer on in work to connect the drives to, and i have multiple computers at the office that needs access to all files (network drives?).

Any solutions appreciated.

Thanks

Ok, let me see if I can help.

I'm thinking you can set up syncing software on your work PC's to copy the files from Pogoplug drive to a sync folder. When a file changes on the Pogoplug drive, it will be synced to your work folder. When you make a change to a file on your work drive, in theory it should then apply the changes to the Pogoplug Drive share, assuming the sync software is compatible and will work with the way the Drive software functions. I know that other members here have reported varying degrees of success with several different programs, so your mileage may vary.

If it workslike that, then you should be good to go, and won't actually need Active Copy in that scenario.

Active Copy is great for doing backups, though, so don't overlook it for that purpose - I just think in your scenario an outside sync program might be better.

Thanks Peter. Yes as you suggest I am going to try having drives on my office computers which sync with pogoplug at home through pogo plug drive. Work drives will be networked so i can access files from all machines. Pogoplug at home allows all home machines to access all files. They will be edited both ends so do need to sync and not backup. Just hope some software works. At moment i have GoodSync so will try that first.thanks
