This is an issue that the pogo folk have been ignoring for months. I've searched these and other forums; no help. They're not interested in providing support, apparently. Watch to see if one of their admins replies to this post (OK, they might come on and say "we're working on it!" or "I'll pass it along!" but rest assured, nothing will come of it.)

Hello,

The ethernet lights will flash periodically even when you're not using it. This is because:

1) It may check for firmware upgrades from time to time.
2) To notify us that the device is online(for the webUI to work properly), it periodically sends us UDP packets.

If your HD comes to a complete halt when not in use connected to your computer, but never stops when connected to the Pogoplug(and NO media processing is happening), please make a support ticket with the brand & model of the drive so that we have a list. We may be able to create a workaround for those kind of drives. Also, please let us know if you had to install the drive vendor's software on your computer.

Thanks,

The only limit to the Pogoplug is your imagination... and C skills... and linux skills. ^_^ h\t\tp://download.pogoplug.com/opensource/pogoplug-gcc.tar.bz2
