In the section on new product offerings, a new firmware upgrade is referenced that will be "pushed" to existing devices starting 8/31/2010. In a forum comment, it is referred to as version 2.5. It is a few days later and I don't see any reference to this being in process (it hasn't been pushed to my device). I see a reference to the 2.1.2 firmware available in the download section but nothing on the 2.5 version. I am still a bit new to the PogoPlug so I might be missing something here. Is it slow to rollout? or is there a way to 'pull'?

TIA - I am doing a lot of 'learning' and I would hate to have to rodo parts of this if the firmware update would change the ways that I trying to do things.

The new firmware isn't dramatically different, so you shouldn't have to re-learn anything :) The rollout happens gradually (in phases, if you will) to Pogoplugs via random selection.

I forgot to add that you cannot manually pull down updates, it happens automatically.

Any info on how the rollout is going? My pogoplug hasn't been updated, and I'd like know if this is going to be soon or if it may take several weeks.

I really think it would be a good idea to offer a manual firmware update as well, sometime i will power off my Pogoplug, so it could sometimes be off for a few days..

I agree with the manual update option. On at least one occasion my Pogoplug/Dockstar suddenly disappears and it was actually a firmware update. What if I was in the process of writing some important backup information when all of a sudden a firmware update is pushed and reboots the device? Most other software/hardware programs/devices do allow the end user some control over when an update is applied.

No update yet here either. I wonder just how many people have recieved it and how its working out?

September 5, 2010 2:09 PM

still waiting for it....

September 5, 2010 2:40 PM

They didn't waste any time jumping on the ipad. Sadly. Still waiting here too.

September 5, 2010 2:49 PM

So true......

September 5, 2010 3:49 PM

Yep - I'm getting itychy about the new firmware release as well..

Has anyone received it yet?
What's the verdict if you've got it installed?

September 5, 2010 4:15 PM

Hopefully this will turn out better (i.e usable) than the iPad app did...

I got the update a few days ago actually exactly on the first of September like promised, with all the printer sharing etc. But now I'm back to version 2.2.1. Looks like they did a rollback of the firmware.

Would be nice if they could keep us updated on this. I don't care waiting a bit, just would like to know what functions my device can perform today and what I can expect for tomorrow.
Where there performance problems with the update? I actually had some trouble after the update with the folders I share. The email addresses of people I share it with didn't always show up and I got some errors from time to time.

Keep up the good work! Hope the update is on it's way.

Do we know if the Seagate DockStar is also due to get this update?

September 6, 2010 4:59 AM

From an email I recently got from pogoplug support:

...view only access is incorporated into to a firmware update scheduled to push out to Pogoplug as early tomorrow morning, September 1.

Currently, Seagate products are not part of this product update and I do not have any confirmed details as to when this may occur. Also, Seagate has been shown the Biz product and to date we do not have any confirmed details regarding a Seagate Biz product either.

I have a Dockstar and I got this update 1st of September but, I'm back to the earlier version now. Might be they rolled it out on my device by mistake.

Sounds like no one has this update! Is it really ready for release?

I wonder why it needs to be ramdomly selected to be pushed to the Pogoplug?

September 6, 2010 8:50 AM

Any one had the new firmware yet????

September 6, 2010 9:04 AM

TRK and others. I THOUGHT that I had received the update last week as it said 2.5 and The webpage showed the ability to add a printer. When I couldn't get it to add a printer, I contacted support and received this reply back.......

Thank you for contacting Pogoplug Support. I apologize for any confusion. We made some changes to our site that unintentionally resulted in the Print options being shown for a period of time. Please clear your browser cache and login again.

Still waiting here as well. It sounds like there is a problem with the update. It would help if someone from PogoPlug would update us on the progress. Maybe it's another "Apple ios4".

September 7, 2010 3:22 AM

Yes, some form of offical update would be good for all us Pogoplug users

September 7, 2010 9:03 AM

I heard from support that today (Sep 7th) was the day to start the firmware re-roll out.

September 7, 2010 10:14 AM

Thanks for the update

September 7, 2010 10:39 AM

Thanks for this news

Just to add some clarity here. Pogoplug Biz units will update automatically, then regular Pogoplug's will be updated over the course of the next 2-3 weeks until complete.

Thanks for everyone's patience and enthusiasm,

Does anyone happen to know how the upgrade impacts open pogo install on an external drive?

Christopher,

Thank You. I'm getting excited the same as my Iphone iOS4 upgrade..
