I have been using dropbox to share projects with colleagues, the beauty is that it acts just like a normal mappable drive.

Pogoplug, while freeing you from onerous and expensive file limits does not act like a remote/FTP drive.

It would be great if people I have shared content with could download the client and configure the share as a drive, rather than just being able to download/upload single files.

So when they open (for example) an Ableton Live project, it knows that the samples referenced by the project are in the sample folders in the same drive.

Hi Threlly. If I am reading your suggestion correctly, I think that you can satisfy this workflow now via the free Pogoplug Drive App. Consider the following scenario:

- Pogoplug owner at Account 1 shares with full access Folder A with Account 2
- The sharee launches Pogoplug Drive App and signs into Account 2
- If the Drive App is configured in Multi-Drive mode, a virtual drive called "Files shared with me" will be mounted
- The sharee goes into "Files shared with me" and finds Folder A there
- The user can then download files from and upload files to Folder A

If you want to share indivudual files with Account 2, you can still do this, and they will show up in the "Files shared with me" virtual drive, but Folder A will still serve as the upload location.

Is this not what you have in mind?

Will the folder that the sharee can see in "Files shared with me" function as a normally mapped drive ?

There are subtle differences, but your computer sees the drive as a physically mapped drive.

- You can read from and write to the folder in the virtual drive
- On Windows, "Files I share" is assigned a drive letter and on Mac it is mounted at /Volumes
- You can perform command line operations on the Full Access files on the drive

Ok Nicky,
Now, if only I can get past the -36 errors when I try to copy a folder over I could start some serious testing.
Sadly, I only experience these errors on the Mac client, not the Windows one.
It's a little inconvenient to have to swap OS's just to copy some folders over !!

However, I will try to check out your excellent suggestions.

Regards,
Gary

We know about those pesky -36 errors in house and have a fix in the works. Hang tight for that!

Nicky,

This really can't come fast enough.

At this time it's basically unusable.
