You can enable samba by checking the box to enable windows file sharing under settings. The P/P is transparent to my xbmc HTPC, the files show up and play fine.

I understand the overall purpose of the pogoplug with regards to file sharing.. but I have a simple question that I can't find the answer to.. I can't seem to find any technical details on the pogoplug.. I want to know if the pogoplug does any simple file sharing protocols over your local lan such as smb/cifs, nfs, etc... I currently have several media centers and a couple of large NAS that I need to consolidate.. they are all currently just smb shares.. I like the idea of being able to share over the internet and really like the transcoding video to mobile devices.. but I don't want to transcode over my lan and prefer not to use upnp to share my files to my xbmc machines unless it works VERY well with the pogoplug...
So, my question is will the pogoplug do smb/cifs, nfs, etc.. or is it upnp only?? and if it IS upnp only, how well does it work with media devices such as xbmc?

I believe that the above was regarding WFS (Windows File Sharing), which is on the settings pages.

Is this a Pro only feature? I do not see any references to WFS on the settings screen of my ping Pogoplug device.
It's the Seagate Dockstar model only.
None of the other Pogoplugs have that option.
Brandon,
In the latest my.pogoplug.com and goflexnet.pogoplug.com "settings" page, WFS only works on the first device.
I have two goflexnet devices, but the second one doesn't show the pulldown box for read/write or read only, or no access. they are both in the same workgroup, and worked fine before the latest update.
