Does anyone else think that it would be a great idea to have a Pogoplug thumbdrive app? Meaning that if you install the app on a thumbdrive, you can instantly create a local Pogoplug drive on ANY computer that you plug that thumbdrive into...that way you don't have to install the Pogoplug software on someone else's computer, just run it from the thumb drive!

Right now I have a thumbdrive with a bunch of apps installed on it for use on the go that I got from pendriveapps.com: Firefox, Thunderbird, virus scanners, etc. I think the Pogoplug app would be a great addition to that lineup.

Do you mean you need the Drive mapping capability on a public computer
so, you can have faster access to your files?
But, will the access be any faster , because you are now on a different subnet address and i think it wont be any faster than the web access.

Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong.

I would have to say not really. If I need to access my Pogoplug on another computer it would be easier for me just to use the web app. Nothing to run or install.

But I don't see any reason why you can't have the drive app on both your computer's HD and your thumb drive in the event that you would want to use it that way.

No, I mostly was referring to the ability to drag and drop files or edit files without having to first download them onto the hard drive, then delete the original downloaded file on the computer.

Let's say that I have a word document that I'm working on that I don't want anyone else seeing. I'm at my friends beach house for the weekend and I'm using his laptop to work on this document. As it is right now, I would have to log in to the Web UI, download the file, work on it, save it, upload it, then "delete" the original file which I downloaded to his laptop (and I think we all know why I put delete in quotes). With a thumb drive app, I could just plug it in, double click on the file I need, edit it, save it, and eject the drive when I'm done.
