This is a great question - and unless somebody with more technical knowledge knows how it can be done, I'm not aware of a way that you'll be able to restore a PC from a backup on the Pogoplug with a restore CD. The Pogoplug Drive software is what enables the disk to be mounted, and unless that program can be launched in your restore environment, I don't see how it would be possible. You could always try temporarily unplugging the USB drive and plugging it into the machine you need to restore.

Have a Seagate Free Agent Go drive with the Dockstar accessory. My question is this. I am using Acronis True Image Home 2010 to keep images of my computer. I have the Pogoplug drive software installed on my system and have made acronis image backups to my Pogoplug NAS device.
Now, I am wondering if I am able to restore a backup image from the NAS using the rescue CD. It doesn't make much sense to me to have to disconnect the drive from the dock and reconnect it using USB to get the job done of restoring a backup image. I use only laptops, and the convenience of not having to connect a usb hard drive is quite a nice one. But that convenience will not be too much of a convenience if I am not able to restore an image over my local LAN. Also, if the event would ever arise where I could not access my computer at all, wouldn't that mean that I may suffer some kind of HDD corruption to my pogoplug drive if I cannot go to the pogoplug website and safely disconnect it before reconnecting it to my computer via USB?
I have tried to restore an image as a test but could not find the NAS drive using the rescue CD environment. Is this even possible?
