Has anyone managed to install the desktop application in openSuse (or anything which isn't Ubuntu)?

I have a bit of experience with PCs / Linux, but I'm not clear on the exact steps I need to take to get the desktop app working. An idiot's guide (I'm the idiot) would be great!
