Hi marianco, I haven't seen this as a common issue on the community - but I do think that you should contact Pogoplug support directly on this one.
You can email support@pogoplug.com or create a support ticket with the link in the "help" tab, which takes you to their official support page.
I am using Mac OS X 10.6.4.
I partitioned an external USB drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using Disk Utility. One partition contains a backup of my Mac's hard drive. A second partition contains data files. I then attached the drive to the Pogoplug and went online with it. I use the Pogoplug application to mount the drives on my desktop.
I can copy files to the data partition. I can duplicate files in the data partition. I can delete files in the data partition.
Here is the problem: I cannot copy files to the backup partition, nor duplicate files in the backup partition, nor delete files in the backup partition. The backup partition is acting like a read only drive.
When I attempt to copy a file to the backup partition or duplicate a files, I get a Finder dialog box that has my Mac administrator account name is automatically entered, and a request for my password.
Once I enter my password, the copy fails with the following error message: One or more items can’t be copied to “Organize” because you don’t have permission to read them. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?
When I press O.K., nothing happens.
More seriously: If I attempt to copy files to the backup drive repeatedly, eventually, the Mac OS X Finder crashes and cannot be relaunched. This forced me to restart the Mac.
When I attempt to copy files via the Safari web browser to the backup partition, the copy fails. Copying to the data partition is fine.
This is a serious stability issue with Pogoplug. Is it a problem with partitioning drives?
Note that I have to force eject the "Files shared with me" partition that Pogoplug creates. It says one or more programs may be using it - despite nothing on my end using it.
Is anyone having the same problem?
