Hi, hope someone can help.

I have had the pogoplug for a couple of weeks, attached to WD 1TB drives and uploaded all my files - great!

The only trouble is, it has been transcoding videos and music ever since. I am not too bothered about using it as a media server yet, is there any way to either select which media files to transcode, or to switch the transcoding off altogether?

Many thanks

Ken

Hi ashescott,
To select the videos you want to transcode, login to your pogoplug at mypogoplug.com then click on SETTINGS then MEDIA SETTINGS then 'Click here to see videos eligible for a full-transcode'. This is where you can decide which videos you want to transcode first or you can select it to do all your media.
Hope this helps.

Great - thanks for the quick response.

I have done this and I am just left with one that won't stop! Any suggestions?

If I was you I'd just let it continue it's transcoding. It may seem like it's doing nothing, but it probably is. It does take a while! It will carry on transcoding all the while the pogoplug is switched on and continue where it left off once it is switched back on again, if you do happen to turn it off overnight . At least thats what happened in my experience. It can still be used to play all the other media and already transcoded videos all the while it is transcoding.

I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly is happening during the transcode and why the Pogoplug has the need to continuously do it. I added several movies (less than 20, and average of around 100M in size) and it took almost all day for the transcoding to complete. The next day I decided that I wanted to organize them a little better and created folders and move the files around on the same drive, just into a different folder. The PP decided it needed to re-transcode everything and it has been running for over 24 hours now. Can someone help me understand this process. At this rate this thing is barely usable if it is going to continue to transcode everything just by adding a few files. I know I can turn transcoding off, but if I do the movie files are just horrible with poor quality and audio lag etc.
