Hear hear, Why is it that the iPhone app works and the Palm Pre one doesn't?
Come on, give us the product we deserve! (Please!!!!!!)
Although I'm disappointed that I chose this product because I could use my phone and turns out this is not the case. I cannot see my library, only the search button. If I search for an item I can see the information on my drive but nothing listed (i.e. folders) when I start that app.
Anyone able to help me out? with the new PDK I don't know why they couldn't just port the iphone app over in its entirety.
I'm in the same boat.
I was able to see my library just fine when I only had a 4GB thumb drive attached to my DockStar.
Once I attached a 1TB FreeAgent Go, my "home screen" went blank. I can still search and play files, but can no longer browse.
Also, how difficult would it be to implement an audio "scrubber" in the app?
Here's hoping someone from Pogoplug actually looks at these forums...
Thanks!
I have a 1TB FreeAgent Also... maybe that's the issue... but come on..they should do better.
I can't wait until HP comes up with a pogo type system... I'd sooo leave if this isn't fixed.
The Pogoplug Pre app worked fine for me except on my own wireless network. Pogo said just turn off WiFi if I want to access it from my pre at home.
2 weeks ago I tried to use it for the first time in a while and now I'm getting the same behavior you're describing. Something's changed. I don't recall getting an updated app so something on their side must have broken it.
So this is what I get from PoGo ... how do you close a ticket without resolution... we keep ours open until the customer is satisfied. Horrible CS processes. They work on an update for something thats newer than an older device. Priorities.

Thank you for contacting Pogoplug.
I myself use a Palm Pre and I realize the Pogoplug mobile application is in need of a fix. We are currently working on an update for iPhone 4/OS4 and iPad, after which we will address Blackberry and WebOS.
However, I don't have a confirmed timeline for such an update other than we intend to prioritize these builds to release to their respective markets by the end of this Summer 2010.
As for your observation about portability, while the core application could be cross-ported between iPhone and WebOS, taking advantage of the hardware requires customizing these builds to hook the native libraries of either OS.
I am closing this ticket but feel free to contact Pogoplug for future updates.
Kindest Regards,
-christopher
I do not understand how the support ticket can be closed without resolving the issue?
I have 26 days to return the pogoplug to the retailer as without integration with my phone it isn't fit for purpose.
I am wondering why they canlt be bothered to support the pre, after all how hard can it be to port the iphone app?
Just to let you know, it used to work on my palm pre. I didn't do much with the music, but I did like showing my pictures to folks.
I didn't do anything with my pogoplug on my side, so it was either an update to my pogoplug, or an update to my webos app that broke it.
Well, they've changed something (probably server-side) recently.
I can now see my library no problem, but anything beyond that is questionable.
When I click on either of the connected drives, I get the spinner.
Clicking on my music library takes me to the sub-menu, but anything beyond that gets the spinner.
Clicking on my movie library doesn't give me the spinner, but a blank page. Searching from that page gets the spinner.
Clicking on my photo library gets the spinner.
Searching from the "home screen" works as before.
If I can find it, I can play it.
Exactly the same symptoms here, suddenly I have a list of files and shares but try and access the folders and the Spinner just goes round and round and round.....
Come on Cloudengines people, you are nearly there with a small effort we can have the functionality we need, want and deserve!
Thanks for your efforts so far, and it is appreciated that someone is listening to our tales of woe.
Prompted by your comments, I checked mine tonight and got the same behavior. I can see the drives, but I can't access them. This is the same behavior that happens when I tried before to access the pogoplug through my wireless. In order to connect to a drive at home I had to turn off WiFi and then I access it through 3G. Now it doesn't work with 3G either, but at least I can see the drives. Something must be going on at the server.
I get same if browsing with pre from my home network via wireless or when away from home via 3g. Works fine on daughters iphone though...
Indeed. It does seem like someone is monitoring this thread and making some attempt to fix what's wrong.
Let's hope that's the case.
On a side note, has anyone put in for their free wireless adapter (http://pogoplug.com/home-en-support-help.html?) yet?
I'm sure it'll work at least as well as the webOS app. Heh.
Everytime I would click on a folder there is a screen that pops up and displays something quickly that I could not read it.
This time I tried to do a screen capture to figure out what it said... check this out!
This text verified your application is running.
To create a fully functional Palm application create a scene and remove this text from index.html. See the documentation on Palm Applications for more information on creating applications and scenes.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
How does Palm let apps like this get into the app catalogue...come on guys... develop a real app and try again! You can do it... I know you all can!
I had noticed text quickly pop up and just about made out the words "This text verifies your application is working" but couldn't see anymore.
Still it is good to see a little progress being made, so lets see thee momentum kept up.

Thank you for solving that mystery.
No news on progress? Come on pogo people, if you don't pull your finger out then for me pogoplug will be a simple paperweight and therefore returned as not fit for purpose..... Can't you at least tell us that you are working on fixing the problem?
An update to the Palm app is now available on the Palm app catalog. It is version 1.0.2 and fixes a couple critical issues, including not being able to see every file and folder, as well as not being able to use Wifi on the same LAN as the Pogoplug. We are also planning on another update to the app within the next few months that will add greater functionality and features.
THANK YOU adam c/cloud engines, at last I have the functionality from pogoplug I was expecting. MAny thanks and I am looking forward to the new version 8-)
Indeed. Thank you. I downloaded the update as soon as I saw it and noticed it fixed the issues we were mentioning. Looking forward to the next update!
