There have been a few posts pointing out the fact that the Pogoplug web interface doesn't have any way of creating custom music playlists.  As far as I know it will not recognize the .M3U playlist file extension, but it does let you sort your music files by Songs, Artists, Albums, or Genre.  I've found that you can make a mock playlist by creating a 'Slideshow' with no photos or just one photo and then adding the music to the slide show in the order you'd like to listen to the songs in.  You can name the slideshow the name of the playlist you want and place one .JPG image file if you want it to display anything while playing the music.  Once the music is in the slide show, just click on 'View Slideshow' and wait a few seconds for the first song to play...  They will play in the order you added them to your slideshow.  Of course you could do this by dropping the files in a separate folder and then accessing the drive directly, but this saves time and file duplication.  Unfortunately I have not found a way to shuffle the playlist or have the web interface automatically create playlist for you like some other applications like iTunes do.  At least this is a simple way to put together a playlist that can be accessed any time by title in the Slideshows link under  'My Library'.

This is great, thanks for sharing this with everyone! I use my Pogoplug quite often to stream music from my laptop (usually while working) so having a ready-to-go custom playlist (sort of) is a great solution compared to having to poke around in the browser every few minutes to find a new song.

Great bit of lateral thinking ....... super post

Remember, its not what life does to you, but what you do with what life does to you, that matters.

One more small bit of information when creating a custom playlist of music using the Slideshow feature... If you want the cover art or a photo to display while you are listening to your music, just add that one photo (or graphic file) to the Photos & Videos area when editing the slideshow. When you start the music playing by clicking on the 'View Slideshow' button you'll notice that the one photo is cycled over and over again - fading in and out. This is quite distracting, but you can click on the pause button displayed over the photo when you roll your cursor over it and it will stop the photo slideshow, but not the music. The album or audio files you added to the slide show will continue playing to the end. Only the photo portion of the slide show will be paused. The music player and photo viewer seem to operate independently of each other.

I think playlists would be grand. Heck, I'd even settle for a shuffle mode, along with display of current song title & artist.

Islanders_19,

Unfortunately, since the time of the original posting, Cloud Engines, Inc. has updated the desktop and mobile applications several times.  I don't believe you can combine a photo slideshow with a music playlist anymore.  The work-around I proposed here was just that, a 'work-around'...  This wasn't a documented feature of the web access application.  I'll play around with the lastest desktop web application and if I can find a way, I'll post it here.  Perhaps someone else will let us know in the meantime.  You should have a 'photos' folder from the home screen that would allow some sort of 'slideshow' playback from your Pogoplug attached devices or the Cloud folder.

no there slideshow any where that I can locate
this is getting kind of frustrating
Features that where there before have been taken away?
no ability to rate songs and create play lists?
do know of a better device out there than pogo?
thanks...ED
