When the Pogoplug security setting is set for an unchecked option on the full security mode setting, trying to log in results in the screen briefly showing a loading process, and then returning right back to the login screen, without any error indications.

It's seeing the correct login information, because intentionally putting in the wrong info will return a message saying the login is incorrect.

The suggestion from Pogoplug to turn on the full security mode setting using another computer worked, however, this apparently forces all traffic to go through the pogoplug server even if accessing from within the local network, which slows everything way down.

I'd like to be able to run it locally in the higher speed mode; is there a security setting in IE8 that is causing the login loop?  If so, could it be changed to allow operation without the full security setting?  Running with XP and IE7 didn't require full security, but it's not clear if it's Win 7 or IE8 that's causing the login loop.

If the session is already open with the full security unchecked, when it's changed to full security, it ends up dropping the connection and going right back to the login screen again, locking out access until another computer can be used to regain control and change the setting back again.

So was anyone able to figure out what settings cause the session to be bumped out when not running full security mode https sessions?

I've been having the same endless-reload loop problem; see recent forum thread "Web login impossible - endless page reload".

I wonder if there's any similarity in security settings? I'm using the Norton Protection Center suite w/ default settings, plus I guess there's firewalling at the internet service level. Relevant? Dunno?

I don't understand what is meant by "When the Pogoplug security setting is set for an unchecked option on the full security mode setting..." Where exactly is this setting accessed? //Thanks

When using the web browser access at https://service.pogoplug.com after signing in and clicking on settings, and security settings on the left, there's a selection for"Use full security sessions".  It enables SSL (HTTPS) throughout your Pogoplug session.  This then apparently forces all data to go out to their server and back even when you're accessing on the local network, which would normally be much faster if it didn't need to make that round trip loop..

Trying to login to https://service.pogoplug.com dumps me back at https://service.pogoplug.com/index.html#logout or gives me a blank page w/ no action. The results are inconsistent.

BTW the [x]Remember me on this computer option on the normal login page does not work; I have to reenter my email & PW every &$%! time, so between cookies and scripts the whole thing is fubar: from my FF Java log:

many instances of
service.pogoplug.com : server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

and lots of stuff like
Warning: Error in parsing value for 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: https://service.pogoplug.com/ce-main.css
Line: 2429

BTW I just updated my JRE direct from Sun so I should be running the latest in FF: console 6.0.21 and Quick Starter 1.0

Yeah, it would end up like a chicken or the egg thing if you can't log on because you don't have the Full security turned on, but you can't turn full security on because you can't log on.
In my particular case it was one computer with Win 7 that required this full security setting, but luckily using a different computer allowed me to get access.
I've just been leaving the full security checked, because there are no other options if I want it to work at all.

Well, the unit goes back too amazon.com tomorrow. I've offered my beta testing services to pogoplug--just without my money on the line.
