Hi amit, I'm not sure exactly what the problem is that you're experiencing. Sharing is entirely optional, and I don't think the "Share This" or small sharing icons in the web interface are intrusive at all. If you're looking to completely remove all references to sharing, I know that isn't a feature that is available at this point.
I don't use the sharing feature on my pogoplug. Can we have a checkbox on under settings that makes this mount optional ?
[I'm on OS X. Not sure about the windows app.]
Hi Peter,
Sorry, I wasn't clear.
I'm talking about the "Files shared with me' FUSE disk mount that appears in OS X Finder every time the Pogoplug application starts. I eject the disk with 4 extra clicks on startup... because it occupies unnecessary space in finder sidebar.
It'll be nice if there is some setting in the OSX app, maybe a advanced/hidden one, to turn this FUSE mount point off on a particular machine.
[The share feature on the web interface is just fine... No issues with that.]
Ah, easy fix for that - go into the Pogoplug drive app and disable "multi-drive mode."
You'll now only have one Pogoplug drive in the Finder sidebar. When you click on it you'll see your attached drives within it and a separate folder for "files shared with me."
The biggest problem with me is the fact that if you go into properties (in multivolume mode) it shows half of the space I have attached to my Pogoplug is used. I have 2 2TB drives attached (right now both empty). Each of the indivedual drives shows all their space free, but the "Files shared with me" folder shows 2 TB used and 2TB free. Do I have to worry that I can only use 2TB to save data?
@Gus - Files shared with me isn't a real drive - it's just the collection of all the shares you have. We don't actually know how much storage there is available in Files Shared With Me, as that would require us to poll every Pogoplug on which you have a share, then add up the remaining space on all the drives to which you have access and present you with a number - it's doesn't make a lot of sense, practically.
Operating systems want to have something reported for size, so we chose 2 TB for Files Shared With Me, as it looks like a drive to your OS. You can ignore that number :)
I agree, I don't use the "files shared with me drive". So please make a setting for unmounting it automatically
I downloaded the program to make the pogoplug show up as a drive in "My Computer" for Windows 7, and I checked the box to enable multiple drives thinking it would let more drives show up should I hook up more, but a drive showed up named "Files shared with me"... I don't want that drive at this time, and can't get the pogoplug application to open up and let me unchoose it. I click on the icons in the pogoplug folder in "program files" but it doesn't open. What do I do?
I would really appreciate this option also. For those who are only operating one pogo and not sharing with any other pogo's it would be nice to disable the files shared with me mount point all together.
same here. pretty annoying. any progress in making the drive 'files shared with me' mount optional?
